Sydney is in intense drought. We cannot even water our gardens or wash our cars except for during a designated period of a couple of hours one night a week. We also have to time our showers and have water police who give on the spot fines to people who turn sprinklers on, hose their driveways, water plants—any unsanctioned use of water. I don’t expect you to understand, as America has no water problems, and it does sound a little wrong to drink filtered waste water, but that is precisely one of the solutions our government is proposing to help ease the problem. Other governments all around the world have developed methods of treating and filtering waste water for reconsumption and it is a perfectly safe and clean water source. At the moment, the government is facing a lot of resistance to this particular proposition, for obvious reasons, so Cate spoke out as an influential Australian and climate change activist as someone who would gladly install her own mini version of the system to do her bit for the environment. It’s not loopy, it’s not new and although I struggled with it myself initially, it’s actually not gross.

So there you go, once again the media has taken something out of context! Also, re the leafblower, that was symbolic. I thought that was obvious.

Perhaps she fears global warming induced droughts, nuclear holocaust, the water and sewer bill or just a downhill career slide.

This is the problem with global warming theory, it is fashionable to believe in it and to make films, sport bumper stickers and do highly improbable things in the name of fighting the invisible menace. Then we get to watch them tear each other apart and name call if they think someone isn’t as green as they are. For instance, PETA protesting Al Gore for eating chicken.
