Yes, it takes time and effort to change your lifestyle. And certainly there are people who get very self-righteous and take it too far (there are zealots in every subculture). But you shouldn’t discount the entire green movement out of hand just because there are a few nuts bashing holidays (which by the way, happen to be the most waste-producing time of year). If everyone put in the effort to make just one small part of their lives green (recycle, support a local business, or get something refurbished instead of new) it could make a huge difference for the future of our planet. And by the way, I’m pretty sure the government cares a lot more about continuing consumerism than the state of our environment, regardless of whether or not global warming is a hoax.
