Tommy, I understand what you are saying, Republicans like to try to not stoop to the level of the Democrats, we like to consider ourselves above it. And over the years I think we have taken hits because we don’t come out and defend our own at all costs, as do the Democrats. If Mark Foley was a Democrat, the Democrats would have defended him to the end of the earth, but Republicans also called for him to step down, and rightly so.
So once in a while it feels good to hear a Republican take a shot like Romney did at Hillary, we know if the parties were reversed the same would have happened.
Perhaps that is why I enjoyed it.

Did Romney intentionally hint at the scandal? maybe.

However, like it or not, returning Hillary to the White House means returning Bill there as well – and the many skeletons that follow him everywhere. I am not sure America is ready for that.

Maybe lack of leadership was a little harsh, on my part. I do think it showed a lack of good judgement.

Tying Bill to Hillary is too easy, and I feel that bringing up their personal relationship only opens up the GOP to attacks. Whatever the real truth behind the Clinton marriage is, I don’t believe that it helps the GOP by refocusing attention on it. Think back to the whole impeachment trial, when the party was trying to nail Clinton on this, and then it turned out that some of the people trying to get Slick Wilbur were having affairs of their own, and it made us look like hypocrits. Clinton came out of the whole thing with better approval ratings.

In the end, the winner of the 2008 election will likely be the candidate who is percieved as less of a hypocrit, and reminding everyone of interngate like it was a great accomplishment of the party that Clinton was morally bankrupt in his personal life isn’t the best way to win support.

It might excite some of us who are partisans, but Clinton was able to appeal to the average folks who thought that it was a distraction tactic used to bring down his presidency.

While Hillary can’t be blamed for Bill’s indescretions directly, she can be indirectly. She knew what was going on and she enabled it. So much for the feminist in her, huh. She sat by and let it happen and then didn’t hold it against him.
I don’t think it shows a lack of leadership by Romney, it may however show a lack of class, but I love it anyway. When talking about a lack of class the Clinton’s take the cake. Have they ever returned the stuff they stole from the whitehouse when they left?

You know, now that i think about it, I do think it shows little class using Lewinsky to go after Clinton. Romney is smart enough to know that using the term “intern” will be assumed to mean Lewinsky, and he knows that.

Republicans can’t blame Hillary for Bill’s transgressions or illicit affairs, or use his affair against her. It only reinforces the GOP’s wrap as the white male party. Also, we’ve had our share of problems with moral dilemmas as well. Romney really should show some more class than that ad. It shows a lack of leadership on his part.

Now, to be fair, I’m not a Romney supporter, but I would criticize any of our candidates for that. It’s unappealing.
