Well, I’ll tell you man, I’m right there beside you. I’m wondering where we go from here. I don’t know if I have ever been so disillusioned with the state of things as I am now.

However, I think that is all the more reason to fight. If fighting means leaving the GOP behind and finding a Conservative base somewhere else, then so be it. As Ronald Reagan once said about the democratic party:

“I didn’t leave the party, the party left me.”

This could be a blessing in disguise. The parties as we know them are nothing more than elite groups with more legacy members than fresh blood. Can we really run a country like that? We were supposed to be a meritocracy, but we’ve gotten away from that – and I think we’re suffering as a result. Too many Kennedy’s, Bush’s, Clinton’s. Too many legacies we can’t seem to shake. Government seems to be becoming a family-run business… And how can that ever be good for a country? We’re not England here. We don’t have rule by royal family.

Maybe it’s time to shut down the political caste that seems to have a stranglehold on the government and get some fresh blood into the mix.

I don’t know. I’m just brainstorming here. Either way, I (we) fight for what’s best for our families, our kids, ourselves, our neighbors… This is our country, damnit! Not theirs.

In2thefray, I know what you mean, it is so disheartening to see McCain doing well after he has dedicated the last eight years to screwing over Republicans.
Deb, doesn’t that laugh of his give you the creeps? Maybe he can save a little face by his VP nomination, but don’t you think he may go after Lieberman for VP?
Oppinionnation, I hear what you are saying, if I were to not vote it would be a vote for Clinton and that would be hard to live with. When push comes to shove I would probably end up voting for McCain, but for now I am going to talk tough and claim I will leave the presidential vote blank.

Like we used to say every time the Red Sox lost, I’m picking out my spot on the Tobin. UN-believable. We can hope that he picks a VP candidate that is at least a little conservative. Who is voting for McCain? Is it the elderly? Are people so petty that they don’t want Romney in there because of the money & looks? What makes that crazy old man that laughs at the most inappropriate times and calls everyone “my friend” so “electable”?

conservatives who refuse to vote McCain in protest only help Hillary Clinton. And that is far more unacceptable in my opinion

Yah, the suicide hotlines have to be pretty busy tonight. I can’t tell you how depressed I am. I just don’t understand what people are thinking and how they can forget some of the grievous things John McCain has done.
