AA, it is definately a protest vote. As you said the primary doesn't count for much so these voters just went out to send him a message.
Deb, you are right, he isn't going to start listening to us now. I did hear that Al got arrested but I haven't had a chance to read about it yet.

I don't think McCain will listen to the conservative base either, unfortunately. But he did show up at some event the other day with Fred Thompson! tease. And did you hear Al Sharpton got arrested? wow.

Is it maybe that those who really don't like him will more likely come out for a primary that doesn't count for much? A type of protest vote to show him that he has loads of work still to do?

That said, a high figure actually showed up to vote. But I am not sure how that figure plays against previous primaries. I have only been here for 18 months so don't have the historic knowledge - sorry.

There is NO WAY I would've voted for McCain in my primary had it been after Super Tuesday. I would've either voted for my original candidate even though he was no longer running or a write-in candidate.

I still haven't decided whether I'm voting for him in the general but I definitely wouldn't have been caught dead voting for him in the primary.
