Barack Obama Lied About his Uncle Liberating a Nazi Concentration Camp

Below is a video of Barack Obama talking about his uncle’s role in liberating the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz.

There is one small problem with his account of the story however. Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviets, not the Americans. OUCH! His campaign’s response was to say that he, and here is that word again, “misspoke”. Obama apparently meant that his uncle helped to liberate a different camp.

That is where one other little problem comes to light. Barack Obama’s mother was an only child, so Obama didn’t even have any American uncles. His campaign has had to further clarify what Barack Obama meant to say. According to the latest release by his campaign, Obama meant to say his great uncle liberated some other concentration camp not in Auschwitz.

I find it hard to believe that Obama just slipped up during his comments. He had no clue who liberated Auschwitz, but he did know that he didn’t have an American uncle. He told the story anyway. This is purely a case of a politician saying whatever he thinks he should to get elected.

Barack Obama is supposed to be the candidate who is above politics. He is supposed to be the candidate of change. He is the candidate who will go to Washington and change the way business is done. However, much like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama apparently is just another politician whose ultimate goal is to get elected no matter what it takes.

He is not a candidate of change, if anything he has been changed. He is just your average run of the mill politician. He is not above the fray, he is in it.

IN 2008 THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AUSCHWITZ AND BUCHENWALD IS TRIVIAL.

IN 2008 McCAIN’S CONFUSION OF SHIITES, SUNNIS AND AL QAEDA SHOWS A GROSS LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF IRAQI POLITICS.

    McCain sucks too.

OBAMA’S MOTHER BEING AN ONLY CHILD IS COMPATABLE WITH BARACK HAVING A GREAT UNCLE.

Why is it when Obama tells an obvious untruth his fans come up with all kinds of excuses to cover for the untruth? At his age, he certainly knows the difference between an uncle and a great uncle and the difference is a lot more than trivial. Auschwitz and Buchenwald sound nothing alike. If the story were true to the point of repeating, those details would not change with each telling. Those details would have been reenforced with each telling. Obama may be confused about history but whoever first told that so-called story would certainly have known who liberated Auschwitz and who the story was about. Doesn’t wash.

DO YOU MISS THE POINT OF WHAT OBAMA SAID OR ARE YOU JUST TRYING TO DISCOUNT WHAT HE SAID BECAUSE YOU HAVE FOUND SOME IRRELAVANT TRIVIALLITY AND WANT TO THROW OUT THE WASH WATER WITH THE BABY?

Are you so confused as to what is essential information that you are unable to prioritize anything?

What Obama was saying was that some ancestor of his was present at the liberation of a German concentration camp at the end of world war two.

I hope, for your sake, that you were trying to mount some sophomoric attack on Obama and not that you honestly believe that either Obama has told a self-serving baldfaced lie or has some basic misunderstanding of some event..

NOW contrast that with McCain who repeatedly confused Sunnis, Shiites and Al Qaeda. That to me says that not only does he have the
knowledge of the players in Iraqi politics but he lacks understanding of iraqi politics. Even Gen Petraeus says that violence would only end when there is a political solution and McCain does not even have a clue about politics there.

Why in the world would any of that statement be for my sake? The man *did* tell a lie, the lie *was* self-serving and he has an *advanced*, not “basic ” misunderstanding of a *lot* of events.

The only thing I hope for my sake is that if he *does* get elected he makes it a point to know exactly who these people are he wants to negotiate with regarding foreign policy and brings something to the table besides tea, biscuits and tall tales to endear himself to them.

Let me rephrase what I said.

I hope for your sake that you do not go through life looking at the hole instead of the doughnut .

When something is said , you look at what was meant and not what was not essential to the statement and only confuses the issue..

If you do that, you are missing out on life.

I could understand you if you have decided to dis Obama at every opportunity but I am not impressed with the soundness or validity of your argument.

An important part of executive function is to be able to focus on the essential facts and data and not be distracted by irrelevant information.

Just because you lack the ability to identify relevant facts does not make you a bad person. We need people who will do as they are told without thinking for themselves.

There are those who will vote for Obama for reasons just as invalid as those who will vote agaist him.

Hopefully in the aggregate, enough wisdom will be incorporated into the voting that a reasonable outcome will result.

Until 2000 there seemed always a choice between 2 candidates who were reasonably qualified to be President.

In 1980, I could not bring myself to vote for either Reagan or Carter. since then I have concluded that both of them were qualified to be President.

I feel just as strongly that McCain should not become President as you feel that Obama should not become President.
Maybe one of us will change our mind a few years from now.

I thought that GW Bush would not be a good president and indeed he has been far worse than I could have imagined.

It will be interesting to see how it all comes out.

    Gasdocpol,
“I hope for your sake that you do not go through life looking at the hole instead of the doughnut .”
Normally, I do not but in this case you have brought it to my attention; so I must.

Why is there a hole in a doughnut? It is said that the inventor of the ring-shaped doughnut did so because he was dissatisfied with the raw center of regular doughnuts. With your analogy the question that begs to be asked is: Which is Obama — the doughnut or the hole?

If you are saying that Obama is the hole that I am looking at; well then, I am in perfect agreement. In view is his inexperience and repeated “misunderstandings” of America (57 states) and our history (American troops liberated Auschwitz), his penchant for telling tall tales and making up stories as he goes along (“my mother was on food stamps”) just to fit with the group and increase his chances in the election, his ducking important key issues in legislature by quacking “present” over an astounding 130 times, his using great words from other politicians or known figures and claiming them as his own, his views and actions on Partial Birth abortion and his stalling and killing Illinois’ state version of BAIPA which was passed in 2005, *after Obama left*. All of these issues are part of the essential man and I assure you I am not confused on these issues nor am I *trying* to confuse them. Obama is indeed the raw and doughy center of the doughnut America and must be removed.

“Just because you lack the ability to identify relevant facts does not make you a bad person. We need people who will do as they are told without thinking for themselves.”

This little jab at my intellect is not as provoking as you might have wished. What is disturbing is that you think a nation of programmable physically functioning idiots will fill your needs as I presume you are among the “we” who anticipates having control of them.

Gasdocpol, I understand that Barack’s mother being an only child is compatable with Obama having a great uncle. But Obama claimed it was his uncle and it wasn’t until he was called out that he changed the story. We can differ on whether this was a baldfaced lie or not, for the sake of argument I will concede to you that he wasn’t lying. But then he was embellishing, much the same as Hillary did with her Bosnia sniper fire comments, but not to the same extent.
This embellishment coming from the candidate that promises change shows me that he is no better than the rest of them, and that was his selling point. That was the point that I was trying to make.
PS, I’m not voting for McCain either, I don’t like him at all.

Speaking of lies, I would say that when we were told that it was necessary to invade iraq immediately, THAT was a big lie.

    That lie was believed.

The essential of what Obama said was that SOME ancestor of his was present at the liberation of SOME concentration camp..THIS WAS TRUE.

I submit that the essential of what Obama was saying was true.

Either you are disingenuously trying to call Obama a liar.

    OR

You are not capable of identifying what is essential and what is trivia.

If it is the latter , I hope that you are not in a position of responsibility where it is necessary to make important decisions.

  14. 2008 September 22

Gasdocpol the euro paints with the gray brush of relativism. Essentially Obama didn’t know what he was talking about. I wonder if gasbag was so enlightened over the McCain story of what teams line he gave the NVA ??/

    Gasdocpol,
The essential of what Obama said was:
“I had an uncle who was one of the, um, who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps.”
    THIS WAS A LIE.
I AM calling Obama a liar and I AM genuinely sincere.

Just because you cannot distinguish between what is trivia and what is important information does not make you a bad person or insincere.

I suspect that you would not do well in a position that called for identifying meaningful information and making decisions.

Alfie, YOU do not know what Obama is talking about.

  18. 2008 September 23

Gasdocpol: if you read Obamas books and study his life at all you see he wasn’t as tight to the white side especially to the point of great uncles. Like much Obama does and says he “recalled” a memory incorrectly because except for that moment, that speech he was not invested in the person or history. It happens in all families and many other would be leaders have experienced the same lapse of reality and judgment. I just think that if you want to play a card you should know what it is.

Obama is a “dick” and always says what he needs to to whatever audience moronic enough to listen to him.

If he gets elected, democrats will be to blame, but the rest of the country, and our future generations will suffer.

It seems misstatements by politicians on both sides, about liberation of Nazi concentration camps, is not unheard of. Reagan, while president, said to two Israeli government figures, that when he was in the Signal Corps during WWII, he himself went into Buchenwald and helped take films of the camp. But in fact, he was never there, and spent the war in Hollywood instead. Nobody knows how or why he came up with this story, other than that sometimes he couldn’t tell fact from fantasy.

(sorry about using any link to Lew Rockwell, but it’s the first I came across about this)

Details matter, so Obama should have gotten his facts straight, but it sounds like he might have been told the wrong details by family members during his life, and that they confused Auschwitz with Buchenwald. As for uncle vs great-uncle, so what?

An ancestor of Obama was present at the liberation of a German concentration camp. So it was his grandfather instead of his uncle and the camp was Buchenwald and not Auschitz.

    A. What’s the differnce in this context?

    B What’s your problem.?

    C. I submit that you do not know the difference between the essential and what is trivia.
