And, the incredible amount of money available for “investment” in commodities clearly shows how wrong the tax cuts and failure to collect taxes has been for this country. This money has been transferred from workers to the capitalists in the past 10 years or so, who are now speculating on yet another bubble. Until, we start closing loopholes and collecting taxes from these parasites, we will continue to wither.

If the democrats try to stall, the republicans are going to yell and scream. If, as you predict, Obama wins, Big Oil is going to want to get the legislation passed and signed before January so that the contracts can be with the Bush administration.

The key reason being is that I am sure that Cheney will make sure that they get the same type of deal that they got in previous leases in that it will allow them to avoid paying royalties.

TT, that is the most likely scenario. I don’t think this is ever going to go anywhere, Democrats are simply going to stall this until after the election and then drop the issue.

Don’t be so sure they are serious. They may go ahead and pass this bill while the Senate will pass a similar bill with just enough differences for it to get stuck in committees until after the election- after which both bills will die from neglect.

Yes you did Terrant, but I really don’t believe anything will happen with this. The Democrats will delay taking action until after the Election and once Obama is in office you can forget about drillin, regardless of what he says now. THe same wouldapply to McCain also but there is no way in hell he is ever going to be elected.

Any bill will be so loaded with ridiculous regulations and fees and such that it will be a waste of paper to print it. Might as well surrender to mother Russia now, which is what Pelosi, Kennedy, Obama and the rest really want. After all, “Winston loved Big Brother.”

Interesting info on Pelosis. THe bill, is it going to cover the area that makes sense, the one with the small footprint, or the other area which would require much more work, money and red tape to actually get oil out of the ground? Sorry I can’t remember specifics right now, point is, I don’t trust her either, as illustrated above.
