Ben Nelson to vote in favor of healthcare reform bill

December 19, 2009

There was no way in hell that Ben Nelson was not going to vote in favor of the healthcare reform bill eventually, the only question was, how much will it take? Ben Nelson and Harry Reid have been in marathon “negotiations” to secure the senator’s healthcare reform vote and last night those “negotiations” paid off for the Democrats.

Ben Nelson is now on board and will vote in favor of the healthcare reform bill. The supposed issue that Ben Nelson had with the bill was language in the bill about the federal funding of abortion, but once that issue was resolved to Nelson’s satisfaction he still wasn’t on board with the bill. Clearing the abortion hurdle allowed Harry Reid to “negotiate” the one true issue that Ben Nelson ever really had– money.

Ben Nelson was able to secure monetary considerations for his state in return for his vote. In other words, he was bribed. Nebraska will now be exempt from picking up the additional costs of Medicare when this bill goes into effect.

Several Democrats– including Harry Reid himself– made sure that their states will be shielded from the costs of picking up additional Medicare costs while the rest of us will be saddled with paying those costs for them. And this is supposed to reduce our healthcare costs?

The fix is now in, it isn’t surprising, barring any last minute stumbling blocks this bill will be passed and we will be paying for it forever.

I was so dismayed when I read this. This is Chicago-style tactics at its best. Bribes, bribes and more bribes. So much for integrity, honor, and ‘we the people.’

They obviously do not care about “we the people” anymore. This bill has even tyrned their base against them yet they still are moving forward with this. They are now claiming that once this bill is passed people will begin to change their minds about it. In other words, they think that they know what is best for us and we are too stupid to understand it now, so they will show us.

I’m waiting for the other Senators to withdraw their vote until they get the same deal for their states…

And Dominique, it’s now “Government supposedly by the People, maybe for the People, to shaft the People.” It’s been that way for some time, just not as obvious.

I have been wondering if that would happen. The rubber stamp senators look pretty foolish right about now.

I wonder how many billions went to the bribes? That might be a good thing to be posted.

The fix was in , but this is one bill we won’t be paying on forever. A big train wreck is coming and although I’m onboard I’m anxious for the crash for the first to die is this massive wreck will be the crew and engineer. The voters will have the final word here the vote that really counts.

While the crew and the engineer may die in the crash, I just hope that the passengers aren’t injured too much to make a full recovery.

Fred! What would Santa say? Oh yeah, he’d agree with you—- Ho! Ho! Ho!

Harry Reid just wanted the 60 votes for political reasons. If he couldn’t get Nelson he would have gone with reconciliation. Either way it was going to pass. This isn’t about health care at all. It’s about socialist redistribution of wealth, and just one part of the larger plan.

    • December 20, 2009 7:27 pm

True, they are hell-bent on passing this legislation and they would have done it one way or the other. Phase two and three on the redistribution of wealth plan will be next– cap and trade and illegal immigration.
