No power

October 30, 2011

Well, it looks as if Barack Obama dusted off Dick Cheney’s Halliburton hurricane machine and has sent it to the Northeast for Halloween. So I have no power and probably won’t for a few days.
I’ll be back as soon as possible.

Best of luck, still trying to get through to my kids in Ballston Spa, NY…

Thanks Fred, the power is back on here. I hope you got hold of your kids and they are alright.

A couple of days? Ouch! Stay save , my friend.

Thanks Jim. After the ice storm of 2008 when we lost power for 11 days–pre generator days and right before Christmas–a couple of days with the generator wasn’t too bad.

Take care of you and your family. I imagine you have a generator? Even here in the midwest we have that, plus a hand pump for the well and have a second electrical box, to isolate certain areas of the house to run on the generator. You just never know when this will happen. We also have older friends in town and out in the country that we make a run around to their houses to make sure they are warm and have food, meds, etc. Will keep my fingers crossed for a quick thaw! We were without power for almost a week a few years ago when we had the bad ice storm….the trees are still trying to recover from that.

Thanks Lou. After the famous (at least here in New Hamphsire) ice storm of ’08 when we lost power for 11 days we did purchase a generator. We have used it a few times now and it is a God send. Still don’t have a transfer switch though so I had to jury rig the circuits with extention cords. Thankfully I do electrical work for a living!

I hope you can stay warm and comfortable. I hope you are not in the area that got 30″.
I am soooooo glad I am in Georgia.

Thanks GP, we have a generator so we are able to at least have heat and water and a few lights and outlets, but it still puts a crimp on the lifestyle. Georgia sound prettty good right about now. We only got about 5-6 inches but it was very wet and heavy so there was quite a bit of downed tree limbs.

I know how you feel Steve, during Katrina we were without power for 8 days–bummer!

    • October 31, 2011 6:27 pm

Only two days without power, I’ve been through worse! I thought it was going to be much worse than it turned out to be.

Ha, Georgia Peach is glad he is in Georgia and my wife just told me she wished we lived in an area that got that much snow. Hope you stay safe, Steve.

Thanks Larry. So might by nice to look at but when you have to dig your way out of it, it loses it glory pretty quickly! :)

Stay safe and warm Steve. Look at it this way, it’s a snapshot of the future if Obama’s EPA gets their way.

    • October 31, 2011 6:29 pm

Thanks John, we are back up and running now and you are right about Obama’s plans. If the EPA gets its way we will all be dealing with blackouts.

    Global Warming!

    • October 31, 2011 6:31 pm

I think we call it “global climate disruption” now because that covers heating, cooling, and well, all weather. :)

Looks like those smart meters are working overtime. Hope you can stay warm. Very cold at the Bunker.. not too far from you, I think.
