The stimulus bill created a DOE national database: Will the government start tracking our children?
Continuing on my “Big Brother is watching” theme from my last post:
Would it bother you to know that the federal Centers for Disease Control had been shown your daughter’s health records to see how she responded to an STD/teen-pregnancy-prevention program? How about if the federal Department of Education and Department of Labor scrutinized your son’s academic performance to see if he should be “encouraged” to leave high school early to learn a trade? Would you think the government was intruding on your territory as a parent?
Under regulations the Obama Department of Education released this month, these scenarios could become reality. The department has taken a giant step toward creating a de facto national student database that will track students by their personal information from preschool through career. Although current federal law prohibits this, the department decided to ignore Congress and, in effect, rewrite the law. Student privacy and parental authority will suffer.
So if federal law prohibits the sharing of private information how is the Obama regime planning on ignoring the law? The answer to that question is quite disturbing to say the least:
Buried within the enormous 2009 stimulus bill were provisions encouraging states to develop data systems for collecting copious information on public-school kids. To qualify for stimulus money, states had to agree to build such systems according to federally dictated standards. So all 50 states either now maintain or are capable of maintaining extensive databases on public-school students.
The Obama regime bribed the states to give up their 10th amendment right by threatening to withhold stimulus money if they didn’t comply with this new regulation, and the states fell right in line. The federal government is denying that it will use these databases to infringe on the privacy of the students and the rights of the parents, but I ask you; why would the federal government demand states set up these databases if they did not intend to use them one day? It is absurd to think otherwise. It is time for the Congress to reassert its authority and reign in this ever expanding federal government.

This is why I am counting on a super majority Senate with a strong Conservative House who can legislate this and the thousands of regs that Obama has implemented. Since the Prez at best is going to be iffy. I hope we can get good GOP Senator candidates, but I can find little information on who is running in opposition to the Dems. So much for Prebius whatever, the head of the GOP.

I think it is going to take a strong candidate on the top of the ticket in order to get out the vote needed to win back the Senate and reverse the damage of the last three years. It is a catch 22 isn’t it? We need to win back the Senate and keep control of the House in order to pull a Republican president to the right, but the best way to accomplish this would be to have a good Republican candidate for president.

This is becoming worse than Russia under Stalin my friend, I posted on this earlier today at Grumpy’s Opinions as well. I hope this is posted everywhere so that people know what is going on. If they continue to get away with stuff like this, our children will be lost to us and become slaves to a government than cares nothing for them but how they can manipulate them.

This really was a sneaky thing to do wasn’t it? Basically bribing the states in order to get stimulus money. It is frightening how easily they were willing to sell us out to the feds.

I just read that Obama does not plan on following the bill anyway. The defunding of the Czars, etc.

B, I thought when you hire someone and they do not do their job, you have the ability to “fire” them. Doesn’t or shouldn’t that hold true with the President and his whole cabinet? Of course we know he does not hold himself to following a stupid bill. After all, he is above that. I was thinking about all that they have put in force with the schools. How many shots do the kids now need to be able to go to school? We had the MMR and polio shot and tb test from what I remember. Now? I know you can turn down alot of what is needed on religious reasons, so there might be alot more parents finding religion. I for one, do not trust the shots. The simple “heal stick” they do to the kids at the hospital, I was told now is to get the childs DNA for a database. You have to sign a paper to turn it down. Does anyone know if that is true? That is not what we were told years ago when our two were born. Should we hold anything the Government tells us as “truth” anymore, or check for ourselves? How many children in school are on ritalin? Does the school get paid for that too? It calms the kids down,,,hmmm! When we were in school a wack on the butt did the same thing. I guess it might be a good thing that I don’t have school age kids now, or I would be over at the school questioning everything. I hope this new generation of parents steps up the plate on this. However, I still pay taxes that go to the school, so maybe we can have a say so in what the schools do.

This is what happens when the states allow the federal government in the door. They would have been better served by not accepting the stimulus money and finding ways to fix their own budgets. Now the states are once again shackled to the federal government. We need to continue to education the people and talk to neighbors and friends about issues like this.

Exactly John, the state have willingly ceded power to the federal government and too many people simply do not understand that the states are supposed to be sovereign. It is up to us to spread the word about what the role of the states is supposed to be.

Thank GOD.. My kids are grown and I have 4 grandsons, and their Mom’s and Dad’s are Conservative people, decent, church-going kids that were raised RIGHT…
I keep em in the loop on news like this though, so they can take care of THEIR kids…

Steve, how much of this type of thing do you think is really used to track and hunt down people like dogs and how much of it is hype… say on a percentage scale?
Or do you see this type of thing as “laying the groundwork” for doing something in the future?

I couldn’t even begin to guess at the percentage, but it seems to me that Obama wouldn’t have made this database if he didn’t intend to use it for his own good. The one thing that we can count on is this; even if this was a well intentioned provision we can count on the government expanding its reach here as the years go on.

I agree Harrison. Whether intentional or not–sometimes it is and sometimes it is not–all politicians want to leave their mark on their time in office and one of the only ways to do that is to pass laws. With more laws on the books there is less freedom.
