Harry Reid claims Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for ten years

August 1, 2012

There seems to be a sense of desperation setting in on the left as they realize Mitt Romney has a decent chance to beat Barack Obama in November. You can see the desperation in their actions–from calling Mitt Romney a felon without proof to claiming that Mitt Romney’s Poland trip was racially motivated to appeal to white voters–and as they continue to get more desperate there is no telling how low they will stoop.

As if calling Mitt Romney a felon with no evidence to back it up wasn’t low enough, Harry Reid has lowered the bar yet again in this little game of political limbo by claiming he heard a rumor that Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for ten years.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has what he says is an informed explanation for why Mitt Romney refuses to release additional tax returns. According a Bain investor, Reid charged, Romney didn’t pay any taxes for 10 years.

Surely if Harry Reid is going to put Mitt Romney in the class of Timothy Geithner and call the man a tax cheat he must have proof. Right?

“He didn’t pay taxes for 10 years! Now, do I know that that’s true? Well, I’m not certain,”

Wrong! Harry Reid has no proof to back up his claims, just the word of some anonymous dude who supposedly called him and said something to the effect of “pssst, Harry, just so you know, Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for ten years,” and he decided to run with it. Or he made it up and there was no such call in the first place.

This parallels the Romney must be a felon story in that the left is claiming he is guilty and asking Mitt Romney to prove he is innocent, when a person is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. This is being done for one reason, and one reason alone; to put Mitt Romney on the defensive and force him to talk about himself rather than Barack Obama’s abysmal record and I suppose I can understand the motivation behind this while not agreeing with the tactics.

There has to be a reason why the Democrats are getting more desperate by the day and I am starting to get the feeling that Barack Obama’s internal polling paints quite a different picture from the poll numbers the mainstream media is force feeding the American people on a daily basis.

The Poland trip was racially motivated? Somebody has to explain that one to me.

Harry? Well, Harry has been known to scrape the bottom of a few barrels in his days. What a low life!

Here is what Cokie Roberts said about Romney’s Poland trip, although it really doesn’t make much sense:

Well, I think part of it was a desire to portray President Obama as something of a wimp, and say he’s abandoned Eastern Europe. But look, you remember well the Reagan Democrats. Those ethnic white voters who had been Democrats for many years; turned out for Ronald Reagan, and have been fairly predictable Republicans since then. Now it’s a smaller percentage of the population — of the voting population — than it used to be, but white voters are still much more Republican than any other group in the electorate. They went for McCain in 2008 by 55%. And I think that getting those ethnic voters excited is really what Romney has in mind here. It’s more for the folks at home — the descendents of the people that he will be speaking to — in Poland

Jim, he is just repeating what he was told to say. Surely we cannot blame him for this?

PS, low life is a very fitting discription of Reid! I am sure there are others, but that is about the most civil I have heard.

He didn’t come up with this on his own, somebody fed him this line. That is for sure.

They are just swift-boating Romney and his tax returns are going be the equivalent to Kerry’s medals. I am quite shocked that Reid had enough of a spine to make such a statement.

In the coming months, you are going to see a lot more of these kind of attacks by both sides. Obama does not really have a good record to run on. Romney does not have anything because it either is too similar to Obama or raises questions that he would prefer to not be asked. The only thing left is to carpet bomb the electorate with negative campaigning.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is going to be the nastiest campaign we have seen in our lifetimes, it is going to be negative with both candidate attacking one another.

Is it just me, or does Harry Reid sound more and more fantastical every day? With apologies to any idiots I may be acquainted with, Harry Reid is a total idiot.

It isn’t you, and it isn’t just Harry Reid either. Many Democrats and the MSM seem to be coming unhinged as the electioin draws closer.

The Obama campaign said they were only going to show the jobs outsourcing ad in “battleground states” I have seen that ad several times here in Illinois lately. So is Illinois a battle ground state?

    • August 1, 2012 10:16 pm

That makes things very interesting, doesn’t it? Obama has been spending time in states which usually vote Democrat and that is part of the reason why I think his internal polls show something very different from the MSM polls. If he thinks Illinois is in play that really is saying something!

The people of Nevada should be so proud of their Senator. He’s an absolutely vile person who reinforces the notion that the left is intellectually dishonest about pretty much everything. He’s part of the problem in DC. I wish he would have lost two years ago so America could be done with him.

I thought he was going to lose two years ago but apparently he still represents the views of enough people out there, which is scary, or did, hopefully that has changed now.

Harry you sound like a desperate guy who hasn’t gotten any trim for ten years…sad commentary indeed for a guy who lives on the outskirts of sin city. As for Obama most assuredly he has the black vote in Poland locked up even though he hung Poland out to dry…kinda like the black vote here even though he keeps his brothers enslaved through entitlements. The truth is truly stranger than fiction.

I know what happened to Harry… Nancy when into the other room and called him up and said… “Hey don’t tell anyone, But Romney has not paid any taxes for over ten years”. LOL

I wouldn’t be surprised if that is close to the truth.
