New Hampshire Senators demand General Petraeus testify to the Congress on Benghazi

November 11, 2012

It what appears to be a very transparent effort to protect the president General Petraeus resigned abruptly just one week before he was set to testify in front of the Congress on the Benghazi terrorist attack which claimed the lives of Chris Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty, and Sean Smith. This was quickly followed by the news that Hillary Clinton would be out of time and also would be unavailable to testify in front of the Congress. Just like that two key witnesses were gone. At least Barack Obama hoped so, but not so fast.

Barack Obama had hoped that this would be the end of it, that these two witness wouldn’t testify (at least willingly) and nobody would question the motives behind these two announcements, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

First we learned that, of all people, Dianne Feinstein expressed shock over the fact General Petraeus resigned so quickly and stated she wished the president hadn’t accepted his resignation. Maybe this is just posturing after the fact or maybe this is a crack in the wall. This was followed by the news that Rep. Peter King stated David Petraeus will have to testify “one way or the other” on Benghazi, possibly referencing subpoena power for the first time in this case.

And in what will hopefully be the first of more to come, both New Hampshire Senators (one Republican and one Democrat) have demanded that General Petraeus still testify in front of the Congress.

  Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte:

I hope he will voluntarily appear, but Congress does have the power of subpoena

  Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen:

I hope Gen. Petraeus will have to testify

I think this is the first time we have heard about the possibility of using the subpoena power to force General Petraeus into testifying. While Senator Ayotte came right out and mentioned the subpoena Senator Shaheen couched her words, but the words ‘have to’ in her statement suggest subpoenaing the general.

There is no way in hell the Congress can have an investigation into this deadly terrorist attack and not have the head of the agency which Barack Obama tried to blame for his lack of action testify. Hopefully the fact that a couple of Democrats have spoken out against this attempt at suppressing the  scope of this scandal is a sign that this won’t go as quietly into the night as Barack Obama had hoped.

Steve, this should NOT be a party line decision, these were AMERICANS that were murdered, yes murdered, they should not try and play politics with this decision. We know it is a massive coverup going on with Benghazi and we probably know who they are covering for. That both Petraeus and Clinton are resigning, is suspect, at best. That they think they will just go away and not have to testify, is unheard of. Would we, mear citizens, be able to walk away from testifying, especially if we had a subpoena? I doubt that very much. This is just more CYA for the White House. Now we hear that Holder is probably going to step down, what about Panetta? Is he long for taking off, as well? The whole White House has a smell to it that is not going to go away anytime soon. I guess they think they have all the bases covered, but there is always that one person that has a conscience that is in the background waiting to see what is going on, dropping the ball to someone that is NOT main stream media. We can only hope there are a few honest Americans that still are in this administration that will step up and expose this man (term used lightly) for what he is…a CON ARTIST. How stupid will the stupid people feel then,,,,I wonder!

No it shouldn’t be a partisan issue at all, but there wasn’t really anyone willing to bring this up before the election and I am surprised that some Democrats are beginning to stand up. I just wish they did it before the election. There is now doubt that Obama is in CYA mode and it will be interesting to watch the dominoes fall.

Nothing like a bit of sex to spice up a story. This is a gift. Even the bots will now have an interest.

That is an interesting angle that I hadn’t thought of. Now that there is a sex scandal the media might find this story much more interesting. It is sad the media finds a sex scandal to be more important than a terrorist attack but if it means Benghazi will get more coverage because of it then I am all for it!

Isn’t it strange that an affair is cause for resigining but the “Comander and Chief” escapes (at least so far) with nothing but a bad smell around him for allowing four Americans to be murdered in a terrorist attack. If this investigation follows most government inspired ones, and the lack of the backing of the Main Stream Media, it will die a quiet death with the hopes that the General Public will give up in frustration. As above, we can only hope and pray enough Americans still care enough to those in Washington that if nothing is resovled they will be looking for new employment. Investigative reporters that are not bought and paid for seem to be a vanishing breed. Where are they when we need them?

This has stench all over it. And I believe General Ham and Admiral Gougette (sp?) also suffered the same fate. This is Obama’s doing, he is trying to cover his arse. The good news is, Congressman Pete King is the Chairman of Homeland Security Committee, and he has been all over this. If he says Petreaus has to testify “one way or another”, he means it. He is furious.

I feel badly for Petreaus, and General Ham, possibly the Admiral too. It may be that three distinguished high ranking officers have just become additonal casualties to this administration as their careers are destroyed for the sake of Dear Leader.

The other thought I have, is whatever they are trying to cover up must be HUGE. They are pulling out all the stops to play hide and seek with the truth, but I just cannot imagine that they will get by with this.

There needs to be proceedings that have teeth, as in a subpeona capability. If these hearings this week won’t manage it, they will have to bring a special prosecutor and launch another type of investigation????? I don’t know how that works. But I can’t see how they can just let this go now.

SP, with them being “high ranking” officials that the White House is going to have to muzzle, there is all the more reason to believe that this is on a massive scale. This went against their plans, I am sure, now they are scrambling. Of course they won, but I am hoping this is not going away and it takes them down.

Ditto Lou. I tell you and you know it too, there is something buried very deep here. I’ve said before, will say it again: Before this through those poor souls who died that night in Benghazi may end up saving this country. There HAS to be an investigation, there just has to be. Certain folks in power do not want that, but other big dogs in power do. I don’t recall anything like this in our national history. If it were not so urgent, it would be fascinating to watch just from a historical perspective.

It is sad indeed that the careers of three otherwise true Americans heroes have been dragged through the mud by the Obama regime in order to protect his ass. This is not a normal cover up, they are hiding something big and I am beginning to think the rumors of arms smuggling though Turkey to Syria are true.

I would SO much love to see that bas#### impeached! As far as I am concerned, this is it. Even if there is no great new news that comes from all this, if he knew what was really going on there and froze he is useless as CIC. I think the true story goes much further though. I am SO proud of our Senator Kelley Ayotte! Glad to see Shaheen on the “right” side for a change also. Hey, if they could force Roger Clemons to testify, they can get bozo’s former cohorts there too. Bonus for the “right” side, Hillary will be so tarnished, she will never be CiC or President. Gotta love it!

Yes, Obama’s reaction was slow but I think it was slow for a reason and that is what they are trying to cover up. Obama let this happen for a reason; he knew there was a threat in the area and not only did Obama not honor Stevens’s requests for more security, he removed a security team. This stinks to high heaven and I want to know what was really going on over there.

Someone else I know made this remark but it’s funny and true. Had the general been busted having sex with gay hookers I’m sure he’d have kept his job!

Then we would have been told that his personal life was none of our business and we shouldn’t judge him for it.

There’s a new article in http://www.wnd.com. called “Did Petraeus Mistress Reveal secret CIA prison?” It’s worth reading and explains ALOT!!! We know this was a rigged election, no doubt about it because the left isn’t complaining about voter fraud when they were screaming about it in 2004!
