Obamacare: Pennsylvania college to cut instructors’ hours to avoid healthcare reform law

November 22, 2012

We have already seen a trend in the restaurant business; employees are having their hours cut so that the owners of these restaurants can avoid paying the Obamacare tax for not providing its employees with healthcare coverage it cannot afford. Now this trend is beginning to spread into other areas as people look to avoid Barack Obama’s signature tax increase.

Today it is being reported that Pennsylvania Community College will be slashing the hours of some of its instructors as a result of Obamacare because it simply cannot afford to provide these employees with healthcare:

While it is of course the college’s preference to provide coverage to these positions, there simply are not funds available to do so,” said CCAC spokesperson David Hoovler. “Several years of cuts or largely flat funding from our government supporters have led to significant cost reductions by CCAC, leaving little room to trim the college’s budget further

The employees who are about to see their hours cut are part time employees so why are they being affected by Obamacare? Because Obamacare changes the definition of who a full time employee is by slashing the requirement from 40 hours worked a week down to 30 hours. These people were part time employees under the definition created by federal law but with Obamacare enacted they would now be considered full time employees and the college would have to provide them with insurance.

The last thing these people need in Barack Obama’s economy is to have their hours cut down to 25 per week especially considering the fact that Obamacare also mandates these people buy healthcare insurance on their own if it isn’t provided through an employer or they will face the Obamacare tax themselves.

This, of course, will push them into the healthcare exchanges being set up in every state–either willingly by the state or to be run by the federal government if the state refuses to comply with the law–and eventually as more people are pushed into the exchanges, and as people begin to face this new reality, the hope (of the federal government) is that the clamor for a single payer system will grow loudly enough to enact the legislation which Obamacare purposely laid the foundation for in the first place.

  Elections have consequences…..

You gotta’ hand it to Obama, he has become the king of incrementalism. As they used to say on the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon show, “Never underestimate the power of a shnook.”

Incrementalism; that is exactly what this is. The Democrats knew they couldn’t get single payer so they crafted a bill which they knew would get them there eventually.

No, both of the major complainers Denny’s and Papa John’s examined the option and have agreed to implement Obamacare. No hours cut or cost increase. Please stay on top of incorrect information you are spreading. Many companies already have 30 hours as full time, this has been in practice long before Obamacare. If the school does not have an adequate teaching staff to cover classes, students should choose a different school. Over 605 of the population voted in favor of the Affordable Care Act, the Supreme Court has spoken. It’s the law. But young people are well informed, this could end badly for enrollment.

Yes it is the law and now we are seeing companies beginning to react to it, if this does bring down the enrollment it will serve to justify schools having even less employees.

Well, now those liberal professors might have to go out and get a second job. Hope they enjoy searching for that job! We told them what would happen, now guess they will just have to experience it!

Yep, it is hard to feel sorry for them as they are now going to have to reap what they have sown.
