New Hampshire Democrat wants to restrict freedoms so libertarians won’t move into the state

January 5, 2013

This is a story that kind of goes hand in hand with yesterday’s post about the ruling class Republicans in Washington trying to limit who can challenge them in the primaries in 2014 so they can protect those whom have already ascended to power, but in this case we are talking about the state of New Hampshire rather than the federal government.

The ruling class Republicans in the federal government believe the biggest threat to their power is to be challenged by more conservative or constitutionally minded people and now we have heard from a Democrat in the New Hampshire state legislature that the biggest threat to New Hampshire’s future is people who believe in liberty moving into the state. She has a plan to deal with this threat:

She went on to write that while there is “legally, nothing we can do to prevent them from moving here to take over the state, which is their openly stated goal,” she proposed making “the environment here so unwelcoming that some will choose not to come, and some may actually leave.”

What does  Cynthia Chase mean when she says we could make the environment in the state unwelcoming? The answer is chilling:

One way is to pass measures that will restrict the ‘freedoms’ that they think they will find here. Another is to shine the bright light of publicity on who they are and why they are coming

Cynthia Chase is actually proposing the live free or die state would be better off if we limited the freedoms of the people who already live here in order to make the state unattractive to people who believe in a smaller, less intrusive government and stop them from moving here. Oh, and if that doesn’t work then let’s intimidate the hell out of them!

Of course when she talks about the “biggest threat the state is facing today” she is not talking about what she feels is best for the future of the state, what she really is referring to is what she sees as the biggest threat to Democrats staying in power in the state.

And this solution would be twofold for the Representative from Keene because there is only one type of person who would rather live in a state that restricts freedoms and liberties and replaces them with government programs designed to keep the people dependent on it for their very survival in day to day life and that would be liberals. So in addition to keeping people from wanting to move into the state she must also realize this would drive constitutionally minded people out of the state, thereby setting up a permanent authoritarian dominant-party system such as we have seen for years in Massachusetts.

This approach may backfire on Cynthia Chase. She may just spur an exodus from the state, people turning away from liberalism and also moving to a better friendlier place to live than New Hampshire.

I think it might, but I also think she would be happy if everyone but the liberals left the state because it would leave them free to pursue all their goals.

What she is proposing is a sign of how far we as a people have moved away from our foubding principles. That she could publically say such things and not expect to be treated as an outcast is a measure of how dure she is that this no longer our country but is their country. We are the interlopers.

So true Jim, she can get away with statements like this because too many people no longer see how outrageous this statement is. And that is sad in itself…..

It will all come to a head here shortly. People in Government are not hiding things anymore, they are just “doing it”, they do not care what we think. I am assuming that they see the president and his administration doing it and getting away with it…so they are coming out of the shadows now and doing what they want. Now we will be able to see their true colors, so guess I am glad the truth is coming out…it has been hidden far too long. Maybe now some of the Sheeple will see what is really happening and have to deal with it….when it was all warm and fuzzy, they were happy to let it happen…now if it is in their faces, we will see how they feel. I hate a liar, now at least we know what we are truly dealing with.

You are right Lou, these people no longer seem to feel the need to hide who they are and they feel emboldened to pursue a radical agenda they once felt the need to implement stealthily. You are also right that this is going to come to a head soon, how much more do they think we will take?

Hey Steve maybe she’s on to something here. What if we did the same in conservative/libertarian states. We could have the most relaxed gun laws in the land, minimal regulations to stifle business growth, strong property right laws, people free to worship both in public and in private without fear of reprisal, right to work state, and so on. Maybe that would be enough of a turn off or as Cynthia Chase stated, create a liberty loving environment that would be so unwelcoming to leftists that many would choose not to come, and who knows…some may actually leave. What do you think?

I’ve said many times that the Free State Project picked the wrong state. They should have chosen a conservative state that already has many libertarian laws and gone from there – they would have met a much better reception.

I think you are referring to fascism, and calling it freedom.

Who do you think politicians answer to? You or the Koch Brothers?

50% of my paycheck goes to withholding taxes, and it is 2 to 3 times what the wealthy pay.

After they suck all the money out of our economy, and stick it the their Swiss bank account, the rest of us need “assistance” because there is no jobs, and no hope. Today’s reality.

      “Slavery is Freedom”
      “War is Peace”
      “Ignorance is Strength”

What is letting corporations run our government for their own benefit? Fascism.

I haven’t heard one peep from the “freedom lovers” here about getting the money out of politics. The real problem. They can dream about freedom all they want. With Singer, Koch, Adelson, Goldman Sachs, and the rest, it is only, and will remain only a dream.

Talk about undemocratic. Let’s talk about the fact that 1.2 million more Americans voted for Democrats for congress, and the Republicans hold the house. How “constitutional” is that? Same problem….

Imagine how bat sh$%^&$t insane the average Republican primary voter is, and what they want. Chaos, and nothing more. They want smaller government, but don’t want the big 3 cut, or the military. They think cutting Big Bird, and foreign aid will get the job done! I could do the math in 1st grade, and they don’t seem to be able to even do that.

Jokes aside – the Rethuglicans and Democraps are the same coin, heads or tails. Vote against them, or kill them when you can.
But they have collectively degraded our system of governance, and wish to continue it (Q.V. Boner – spelling intentional – with Body Odor, and the “fsical cliff” they think they can bridge – with OUR money. I swear every time we have a (D) in office, the rpess pees itself and swoons, and the (R)s just bend over and ask for more, EACH AND EVERY EFFING TIME… It’s the frickin’ Hegellian Dialectic: Thesis (R) and Anti-Thesis (D) “compromise” to get Synthesis – which is what BOTH wanted in the first place. The argument, if you will, is over HOW MUCH of a pay increase they get – there’s never a doubt they’ll get a pay increase. It’s bullshit, smoke and mirrors hiding the shell game – and AMERICANS allowed – even ENCOURAGE – the game to keep going.)

Hell, I’m only late 30s. I earn well. I don’t own guns. If _I_ am this PO’ed? How angry must those who are struggling to survive (I was there recently, BTW) really going to be? Are they ready to slit your throat for an additional $0.25?

Add in the tinfoil hat shit – New Flu epidemic (out of nowhere? WTF?), multiple “mass shootings” & attacking gun owners, and the endless push of the authoritarian state (will always be there, but still), and then we hear about people fined and imprisoned for idiocies: growing your own garden in your front yard, not kissing police ass enough (copblock.org), walking the dogs the wrong way, or chemtrails, or the monsanto GMO patent case(s), illegal search and seizure (DUI checks, and warrantless wiretapping and warrantless installation of surveillance equipment), plus systems tracking the D.C. metro traffic – including drivers, students being forced to wear RFIDs (while Muslims can wear a hijab, maybe even a burqha?), drone surveillance of citizens, stop and search (boston, NYC, who knows where else?), martial law in Alabama… WTF?

If these things aren’t all coming together by sheer coincidence, there are a LOT of people who should be paying the bill… For a LONG time. As in, splice their genes so they regenrate body parts, and then give them death by a thousand cuts…. Need to prolong their lives, too, and do it in the public square.

It’s TIME. If not now – WHEN? after the chains have been on for a few more generations? After we’re disarmed and the surveillance state has gone global? (oops, too late – Japan, UK, France, US, Canada, China, who knows where else?) They crossed the “line in the sand” some time ago. The question now truly is: Do WE pay the cost, or do we make our descendents pay the cost?

Cowards would choose #2 – as the cost will go up geometrically if not exponentionally.

Peter, you left out manicured fingernails, lots of hair appointments, lots of gold jewelry, designer clothes, getting to go to local colleges for free (with child care), help with gas to get to school, help with power bills, help with rent, wter bills, there is absolutely NO incentive to try and get off the welfare train. That is a way of life and it is generation after generation. Then there are us sorry suckers that have to pay for it all, somehow and still live our lives…how many are WE supporting? Keep raising OUR taxes to support the habits of others that won’t help themselves,,,,do you see a problem there? I can speak from experience here in Illinois, we don’t dare cut back on entitlements, we have to make sure they are well taken care of, so we raise taxes on ones that can still pay,,,no wonder there is so much flight going OUT of Illinois.

Actually, I’ll back Betrayed in what I understand to be his primary issue:
The Rich get Richer, NO MATTER WHAT. I don’t think he’s in opposition to the problems of the “welfare class” (meaning, that they exist.) I have a simple solution – let them kill each other. Withdraw all police and “honest folk” for a few days. Let them sort out the territory by killing each other.
Then move back in and kill the survivors. Burn the bodies.

The plantation of milk and honey – is closed.
      Let’s send the wake-up call.

There is as much fraud in the welfare state as there is in politics and voting. They also know how to work the system to stay in a rental for 3-4 months without paying rent before they are forcibly removed, with no money forthcoming…like I said, most know how to work the system and the system is not in place for landlords or tax payers, is it? What you posted does not suprise me in the least. I believe that not only should anyone getting welfare have to submit to random urine/blood tests, but they should be cut off at a certain amount of children. I think they should find the dead beat dads….they show up at tax time to get that “earned child credit” money coming in. We usually owe money and we work,,,tell me how someone that does NOT work get a tax refund? What the hell is wrong with the state and the Feds for allowing that to continue? I am getting pretty bitter about this…I do NOT for a moment begrudge someone getting help that needs it, but when it is generation after generation and that is what they expect, something has to change. There are perfectly healthy young adults here in Illinois that receive Section 8 vouchers, just because their mothers do…that is where the state will pay for a good portion of their rent, depending on if they have any income, most get the maximum amount. Section 8 makes sure we keep the places perfect, if they are damaged (by the renter) and we get stained carpets (red koolaid does not come out), torn out screens, written on walls, etc., we pay to fix it, not the renter..alot of landlords are not accepting Section 8 for that reason. When you add up all the benefits that are received here in Illinois alone, there is NO incentive to go out and get a job.

Minor issue – lots of “deadbeat dads” are actually “dead broke” dads. Many are forced out of the child’s life – mommy gets more money if daddy isn’t in the home. (Part of the problem, Daddy or Husband Government can take over and meet all her needs, eternally.)

But the stupid don’t know to do more than watch TV and breed, and maybe work a menial job (per IQ and laziness.)
Also, please note, that the MEN don’t have a choice: they are on the hook for child support, even if the notification goes to a fictitious address, or the child isn’t theirs.

Niggers everywhere, some of ’em have black skin. ALL of them should be executed – too bad we can’t kill the white ones twice.
(Please note – no mention of Asians, Jews, Native Americans, OR NATIVE AFRICANS. It’s something about American Blacks and Mexican Latinos, and all too many native-born whites. Clean those problems out, MOST of our issues would be self-correcting.)

There was a story last week in the Boston Herald about how the state has no idea where 19,ooo EBT card recipients are. Of course it is highly likely that they are duplicate owners and illegal aliens and the governor has no intent of finding these people. I hae no problem with people receiving temporary aid when they fall on hard times but some people make it a career and have no intent of ever earning a wage on their own and that is where my problem lies.

I work 60 to 80 hours a week, and pay a butload in taxes. I don’t think I should pay for people that don’t want to contribute at all.
