Ed Schultz claims gun laws don’t exist in Chicago

Ed Schultz was comparing gun crimes in New York and Chicago in order to make the case for more gun control, and while doing so he made the statement that because Bloomberg implemented the strictest gun laws in the nation crime was down, while in Chicago crime was up because gun laws were non-existent.
Of course we all know this isn’t true and in fact Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation but that didn’t stop Ed Schultz lying about it in order to push his liberal, unconstitutional agenda.

Ed obviously lives in a dark room isolated from reality. I was born an raised in Bridgeport, 37th and Parnell and fortunately I was able to escape from that Gulag! Chicago has and has had the most draconian laws in the United States as far as guns are concerned.

I think that Mr. Schultz knows he is lying but he just doesn’t care because he is pushing the anti-gun agenda and facts don’t seem to matter. He is blaming the people who ignore the law instead of admitting there is a law and he is doing it on purpose.

Bottom line is, people can say something like this on TV and later on retract the statement…but the damage is done because people hear it once and file it away as FACT. Ed Schultz is an idiot, plain and simple! He knows he is not telling the truth, but his form of the “truth” sells, so he does it. Phillip and I know what the truth is and there ARE very strict laws for Chicago for all the good it does. If I was living there, I would be packing and deal with the courts “after the fact” if I had to act on something. How stupid is it that Illinois is the only hold out in the USA that can’t conceal carry? You can answer that….we have an Administration straight out of Chicago, so does that maybe tell you what they want for the entire country? Everybody else had better start waking up, we are ALL headed for lives that are lived in CHICAGO!

“Apparently” gun laws don’t exist means the gun laws are not working? The “apparently” part is the kicker. Not that there is no gun laws. By the way, Ed is a hunter, and not an anti gun activist. He is just sickened by the number of Americans dying every day because of a number of reasons. I assume the fact that our gun laws don’t work would be one of the reasons.

There is a major difference between no laws and laws not working. He clearly stated strict gun laws were the reason crime was down in NYC so he wasnt making the claim Chicago’s laws just weren’t working in my opinion.

You are absolutely right Steve. Strict gun laws is one of the reasons gun murders, and shootings have plummeted in New York. I think Chicago is, and has always been a different place, and crime and crushing poverty in Chicago has a far greater effect than gun laws there. I am sure you, I and Ed all agree.
I actually know Ed, and have talked to him and helped him many times in the past. He has a heart of gold, and is not known for lying. Other radio folks, well, let’s just say they lie constantly, and simply make stuff up. Better yet they take things out of context, and scream outrage for a living, when anyone with half a brain would understand they are making mountains out of molehills.

If the “other radio folks” you are referring to are people like Rush I just want to make it clear here that I do not listen to any of these people for two reasons. One, all Rush seems to talk about is himself and he and the others goe overboard trying to make a point which I think does more harm than good and secondly because I don’t want people to think that I come here and simply repeat what I have heard on the shows on my blog.

The problem is not the strict gun laws, it’s that the ways around them are simpler then 1+1. All you need to do is buy a gun, leagally, and sell it on the street. There is NO repercussions for this. There is no crime against not reporting your gun as being missing or stolen. Once these guns are out of the shop and in someone’s hands there is no tracing where that gun has gone. I think the laws are not strict enough. I also think any gun enthusist who is against a law that would require you to report when your gun has been stolen, or can’t find it, or whatever, is so crazy that you should not own a gun to begin with. Who doesn’t know when their gun is stolen? If you don’t, you are too irresponsible to own a fire arm.
