In 1999 Barack Obama refused to vote for tougher prosecution of people who discharged firearms in a school district
1999 was the year of the Columbine High School shooting and Barack Obama was a State Senator in Illinois. In the wake of that tragedy the Illinois State Senate voted on tougher measures for people who discharged a firearm in a school district and Barack Obama refused to vote in favor of the legislation–voting “present” instead.
Flash forward to today’s announcement and we find Barack Obama now calling for tougher restrictions on law abiding gun owners.
He refused to vote for tougher prosecution of people who actually broke the law and now he is looking to punish those who have not broken the law. I think this tells us all we need to know about the president. This is not about protecting the children because he wasn’t interested in protecting the children in 1999, this is about gun control pure and simple, the 1999 vote did nothing to address the second amendment so he wasn’t interested.
This does not surprise me. Big city liberal political leaders all support strong guns laws, but at the same time always come down on the side of the criminal element as far punishment is concerned. Sadly that’s what their base demands. We all know what happens on the streets in Chicago and other sprawling urban centers and the Democrats who run these cities will do nothing, absolutely nothing to stop the violence on their streets.

We will never understand the minds of liberals. They can rationalize anything at any time.

Yep, because they know they are never going to be called on it in the MSM.

I hear he wants stiffer penalties for “straw buyers” who purchase guns for those that have no business having a gun. Of all the gall…

And how does one identify such a buyer and how could it be legal today for someone to sell a person a gun who has “no business having a gun?”

“Of all the gall” is right! Some of the biggest gun runners in the nation were in Obama’s administration!

Well he’s president now so whose vote does he need to win… especially since he’s in his second term?

This is just the beginning, he hasn’t really even gotten started yet!

Nice find. Finger in the wind, best vote present. Says it all.

Thank you! Yes this does say all we need to know about the president, doesn’t it?!

Just one more reason why it is more than a little obvious that Barack Obama can not be trusted to do the right thing. I don’t trust him as far as I could throw him.
