Gunrunner: Eric Holder asks the court not to order the release of Fast and Furious documents

January 17, 2013

When the Fast and Furious investigation began to close in on Eric Holder (and possibly Barack Obama himself) he ran to the president and begged him to use his executive power to seal the documents Darrell Issa and Charles Grassley had been trying to gain access to for over a year, and naturally Barack Obama obliged him.

As you can read about in the article I linked to above this move actually led to more questions about what the Obama regime was trying to hide in this deadly scandal.

Judicial watch issued a Freedom of Information Act request last June but the Obama regime has failed to comply with this request so they have sued the Obama regime in an attempt to force compliance with FOIA.

Getting beyond the Obama administration’s smokescreen, this lawsuit is about a very simple principle: the public’s right to know the full truth about an egregious political scandal that led to the death of at least one American and countless others in Mexico. The American people are sick and tired of the Obama administration trying to rewrite FOIA law to protect this president and his appointees. Americans want answers about Fast and Furious killings and lies.

And last week Eric Holder appealed to the court for a “motion of stay” to indefinitely stop the court from forcing the Obama regime to comply with the FOIA request. What is interesting here is the fact that the Injustice Department did not claim that national security or state secrets would be in jeopardy by such a request, but rather that there was already another lawsuit in process.

The only justification Holder uses to ask the court to indefinitely delay Judicial Watch’s suit is that there’s another lawsuit ongoing for the same documents – one filed by the U.S. House of Representatives

Once again this leads to more questions than answers and it makes one wonder what exactly the Obama regime is trying to hide. It has been my contention since the very beginning of this deadly scandal that the Obama regime was trying to create a crisis to exploit in order to gain support with the American people for more gun control laws by proving the 90% lie but unfortunately for the regime this plan was derailed with the deaths of Brian Terry and Jamie Zapata. (And just for the record I predicted that the Obama regime was going to use the 90% lie as justification for gun control before the news of Fast and Furious broke as can be seen in the link above.)

The irony of the regime’s new push for gun control laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre coupled with the lack of transparency in their own gun running scheme was not lost on Judicial Watch:

It is beyond ironic that the Obama administration has initiated an anti-gun violence push as it seeking to keep secret key documents about its very own Fast and Furious gun walking scandal

Barack Obama is now claiming that we need to usurp the second amendment to protect the children from gun violence, but he didn’t give a damn about the 14 teenagers who were murdered as a result of Fast and Furious, which tells us that this really has nothing to do with protecting the children and has everything to do with his anti-second amendment agenda. He sees in Sandy Hook an opportunity which he had hoped to create with Fast and Furious and he intends to exploit it.

He is dancing on the graves of the Sandy Hook victims and their families and I find it more than appalling.

Yep, for the most transparent administration in history they seem to have quite a bit to hide.

Sadly, I really doubt that much is going to really happen about Fast and Furious. Eventually, a few, but by no means all documents may get released. The families of the victims might get a little money eventually if they persevere in their lawsuits, provided that some judge does not decide that they lack standing to pursue a suit against federal officials, or that the US government is immune from liability. In the end, Holder keeps his job, Obama continues to demagogue, Issa and Grassley move on to other issues, a few small fry are fed to the wolves, and the press acts as though nothing ever happened. Before the next four years are through, there will be other travesties and scandals that make Fast and Furious pale in comparison, so likely it will be forgotten by future administrations. Shouldn’t be this way, but this is how I see it coming down.

I am afraid you are right and Benghazi has shown us that this administration can get away with just about anything because the MSM simply isn’t interested in reporting anything which puts Dear Leader in a bad light.

I’m afraid John Scotus is correct. I see nothing happening with Fast and Furious. It’s a shame, since the scandal is so obvious. At the very least, Eric Holder should be forced out of office and investigated further, but it just isn’t going to happen, at least not while Obama is still in office.

Meanwhile, their focus has shifted to Sandy Hook and we are on the defensive, trying to protect our 2nd Amendment rights from a full frontal assault.

Sadly I think you are right Larry. Barack Obama simply moves from one crisis to another, this is how he governs and we can expect more of it over the next four years. This way he stays on the offense and puts us on the defensive while at the same time giving the media cover to ignore the scnadals.

According to the Left Stream Media, it is racist to question the integrity of the Obama administraiton.

BTW,what is happening with congressional law suit?

I don’t know what is happening with the congressional lawsuit, there hasn’t been anything written about it in quite awhile. Rest assured I will post something when I know something, but the silence is concerning.

FOIA,,,why have it if we can not use it? I am SURE that AG Holder wants the documents hidden from all of us, but I also am SURE that things have been scrubbed as much as they can be to do as little damage as possible if they do come out. I am thinking of the black magic marker technique they usually use to make it impossible to get any sense out of a document. He is not worried that he will be going down. Wasn’t he planning on leaving after the first of the year? Well, I imagine that was when he thought things were not locked up tight and Obama would not have control. How things have changed, he is staying as is Obama, so that tells me that they think they have the control they need now to keep things quiet. What is it going to take to get these nasty individuals out of our White House?

If this request is denied it will mean that FOIA really has no teeth. What good is it if documents like this can be hidden? I am with you, this has given Holder enough time to “correct” the records and somehow I get the feeling that he “Sandy Bergered” anything that might implement him.

No doubt at best it will get tangled up in court until Obama and his minions are long gone.

It’s hard to force gun control on the citizens when your regime is guilty of incredible gun crimes, but for Dems, duplicity and hypocrisy are merely *business as usual*…

The administration has refused to comply with Judicial Watch’s FOIA request, and in mid-September the group filed a lawsuit challenging Holder’s denial. That lawsuit remains ongoing but within the past week President Barack Obama’s administration filed what’s called a “motion to stay” the suit. Such a motion is something that if granted would delay the lawsuit indefinitely.
