Open thread for Sunday, January 20th: GO PATS!

January 20, 2013

Here is the open thread for Sunday, January 20th: feel free to post links to interesting articles as well as discussing whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here. Also a friendly reminder that you can follow me on Facebook and Twitter; you will see stuff there that doesn’t make it onto America’s Watchtower.

I will not be around at all today because I managed to score tickets to the AFC championship game and am taking my youngest son to the game. There will be no politics on my mind for the day and that is a much needed break.

A few short months after the September 11th terrorist attack a team bearing the name the Patriots took to the field as the heaviest underdog in Superbowl history and somehow managed to defeat the Saint Louis Rams on the last play of the game.

It seemed all too fitting to see red, white, and blue confetti falling down from the ceiling as a team named after the patriots of yesteryear celebrated a victory so shortly after the darkest day in United States history. The Patriots are now one of the least liked teams in the NFL but at that time I like to think that all Americans rallied around a team which represented what an underdog can achieve when they have the will power and a belief in themselves even when nobody else believes in them.

Well since Eli Manning didn’t make the playoffs I would say the Pats have a pretty good chance. However those 49ers looked awfully impressive in dispatching the Pack(my personal faves).

Home field advantage. More consistent QB with many more weapons. Ravens long in the tooth defense. Advantage Patriots. This does not mean if the Pat’s aren’t on their game they can defeat Ravens. The Pats need to bring their A game. Either way the Ravens are gonna need their best game of the season and a drop off from the Pats. Impartial analysis as I have no dog in that fight. It should be entertaining as both teams seem to be able put up beaucoup points. So watch it end up 10-7.

But seeing as I thought the Seahawks would win it all( I failed to take into account just how butt stupid a coach Cheat Carroll really is) take my analysis with as many grains of salt as you need.

According to OXFAM The world’s richest 100 people make enough money in 1 year to end extreme poverty for the entire planet 4 times over.

As a nation of suckers we have given hundreds of billions to the cesspools of the world and still those poor bastards everywhere are starving and dying while the elites over there confiscate our money. You still don’t get it do you betrayed? Maybe we should have a ” Feed the hungry” tax deducted from our paychecks…. Ooh wait, we already have that.

Actually Peter it is the elites over there, and far more elites over here confiscating their money. Just remember. One slip on the ice and you will be “the hungry” Pete. I prefer no one is hungry, including you and I, no matter what. I also think we should be able to see a doctor without going bankrupt.

9ers won… apparently the Pats would have lost to the 9ers so I’m sad they lost. 😦

This morning on MLK Day, Fox News reports that a new poll out suggests that 80% of Americans polled are concerned about the soaring national debt and gov’t spending. Are these the same ass holes who elected the spender in chief? What a crock of shit.Coupled with Bush II’s war spending to keep his gov’t contractor buddies sucking up the bucks and Obama’s entitlement run amok spending we are at the point of no return. Obama will have no trouble with placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of the republican led house and those same 80%ers will throw out the Boner brigades and replace them with more of what we had under gramma Pelosi. She’s revving up her engines even now.

On another note, I am not one to blow my own horn but I had commented on several political blogs back when Hillary was bringing down Kadafi that Algeria was next. The only question is how do we distribute weapons in the area that will be used to kill Americans later?

Hey Betrayed- if you weren’t around in 65′ at the outset of Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society, which proved to be anything but, you may not know that it was the start of the gov’t engendering of gov’t sponsored intent generational poverty and dependencynow in its sixth decade and growing stronger exponentially to the monies pumped into the system. When will people of your ilk move beyond the bleeding heart guilt that propels your denial and avoidance of reality. Before Washington destroyed self dependency, neighbors and charities helping the less fortunate, the $10 Dr’s office visit and temporary government assistance to those genuinely in need of help this country in spite of its ills ran a hell if a lot better. Of course there are enough of you running around shouting from the rooftops that we are a racist country with a black president and too many people who have the audacity to prosper in spite of the blob like ever expanding government.

@betrayed…yeah I don’t see much validity in your arguments.
Even as a NE fan I predicted a Pats loss and unfortunately I was awarded. Now I have zero sports since I am on strike against the NHL and I don’t care who wins SB. btw the Ravens are gonna win.
4 more of the last 4? Great

I could not stand to watch the tv yesterday, but I listened to one of the radio stations on my puter…when Chuck Schumer referred to our “Democracy” not once, but twice, I was ready to turn it off….how dare he! But then I got to thinking, he is not far from wrong now, is he? Then when Myrlie Evers left out “under god” in her prayer, she said “one nation ( ) indivisible, with liberty and justice for all” ,,,,I turned it off. After that, I knew what Obama was going to come out with, nothing but BS and gloating about what all HE was going to do (to take this great country down)! We have alot of work ahead of us trying to convince those wimps in the Republican party that this is our last stand.
You know I really don’t care about Michelles new bangs, I want to know if I am going to have money to pay our bills! I want to know if the power bill will be so high, we will be living in the basememt to keep cool, I want to know if we will have enough food for the week or be able to pay for the famn medical insurance, let alone the life insurance. What did we put back in Our House??? What kind of a man (term used lightly) would do what he is doing to us knowingly? I am disgusted with the show that I am sure was put on yesterday from what I heard and I am tired of giving OUR money to people that need to get off of their asses and get a job and stop taking OUR money! I told you before that we have alot of rentals, the more I have to deal with certain people, the more bitter I become when I know there is NOTHING wrong with them, but that they take whatever they can get. Here is the great state of Illinois, it is the name of the game and it keeps getting worse. We are slave to Governor Quinn and he wants to see how much he can take before we finally say ENOUGH!

You made it further than I would have, that’s for sure Lou. Listening to the media fawn over Obama and Michelle’s new hair was more that I could take so I didn’t even try. Obama is going to spend the next two years trying to divide the Republican party to win back the House in 2014 and if he is successful we are in more trouble than I even want to think about right now!

I remembered this quote from years ago that I thought might be fitting for all of us here to remember:

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Just found this item this morning. Of course you won’t find it anywhere near mass media…
Some of the terrorists that attacked the gas plant in Mali, were also a part of the attack in Benghazi… http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/23/world/africa/some-algeria-attackers-are-placed-at-benghazi.html

Correct, Sonny! Good luck on it going anywhere! The media is running cover, in a massive scale right now. I was reading about SoS Clinton saying “what difference does it make?” when being questioned on Benghazi, how arrogant that was. Guess she was a bit frazzled. Bottom line is, I am sure that the families think it makes a difference. They will skate by on this one too, the woman is viciousness with glasses on and a bad “do”. I detest this administration and we are just getting started on our NEXT four years.

Here is a great example of the “entitled crew” at a Welfare Office ( Public Aid) in my beautiful home town of East St. Louis, Il. Note the nice jackets, purses, cell phones (bet most are equipped with a data package) and these people are waiting for their benefits. I would say that most in that room are very able to get out and get a JOB, don’t you think? What are they teaching their children? What is going to happen when our Governor Quinn has to stop paying for their benefits? We are already broke, he refuses to cut checks for insurance payments that people WITH insurance had paid into all their lives (backed up 52 weeks on the checks), but rest assured THESE heathens will come out with what they are entitled to. Where is anyone that is trying to teach them to sit down and shut up and wait for their number to be called? Looks like about 3 security guards in the place, guess they can not keep order. What a mess this government has created, huh? This is only going to get worse, welcome to the NEW and IMPROVED American.
