About Me

  My real name is Steve and by day I am an optimistic 40+ year old middle class family man who works for a small business doing electrical work. I couldn’t be happier. I have a perfect wife and two great teenage boys. There is nothing in this world that I love more than my family. Family, and extended family, that is the backbone of America and they are my backbone.

 But when the sun goes down and the boys are asleep I turn into the person that you read here. Something comes over me and my passion for politics overtakes me. I can’t help it, I can’t help myself. I become the Patriotic Dissenter, a part of the loyal opposition, and proud member of the Conservative Resistance. And now according to Homeland Security I am a right wing extremist and potential domestic terrorist.

This is my alter-ego, this is Mr. Pink Eyes.

 I am a fiscal conservative, and somewhat moderate on social issues.

I don’t believe abortion is right. I believe Roe vs. Wade should be overturned. This would not outlaw abortion, it would simply turn it over to the states to decide. The reason I believe Roe vs. Wade should be overturned is not because I believe abortion is wrong, which I do, but because this is a case of the judiciary making law instead of interpreting it. They overstepped their boundaries. If a state rules abortion is legal in their state, and a woman wants an abortion in that state I don’t believe I have the right to say she can’t. Just don’t make me pay for it.

I don’t care if someone is a homosexual, but I don’t believe in gay marriage. I believe marriage is a religious institution therefore if it contradicts religious beliefs it should not be legal. I do understand that marriage affords couples legal benefits and the issues that homosexuals are confronted with in regards to making medical decisions and such. I think that civil unions provide gay couples with all of the benefits of marriage and therefore it is an acceptable alternative.

 I don’t believe in the welfare state, I believe if you eliminate welfare it would force people who don’t want to work for a living to go to work. This in turn would make less jobs available for the illegal immigrants and they would have to go home.

I am tough on illegal immigration, I support a fence, and militarizing the border if necessary. I believe illegal aliens should be deported when arrested. And I believe companies who hire them should face criminal action also.

I am a hawk on national defense and the military.

I don’t believe government should make laws to protect people from their own stupidity. In other words the Nanny State. I don’t believe the government has the right to regulate smoking in private businesses, seat-belts in cars, trans-fats, and the like.

I don’t believe in high taxes for social programs.

 In the end I suppose that I am libertarian at heart. I just want the government to leave me alone and stay out of my wallet.
