Tina Richards is Nancy Pelosi’s Cindy Sheehan

April 18, 2007

Does Nancy Pelosi have her version of Cindy Sheehan?

That is the question posed in the above linked article.

From the article:

It was in the summer of 2005 that the Bush Administration began to lose the support of the American public for the war in Iraq. A principal catalyst of this momentous transformation was the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq. Casey Sheehan’s mother Cindy Sheehan famously camped outside the President’s ranch in Texas and demanded a meeting with him.

I disagree with this paragraph, I don’t believe this is what caused the American people to turn against the war. I believe we live in a soundbite world, people are only interested in instant gratification nowadays. As the war drags on people lose interest, they grow tired of it and then oppose it, people are ready to move on. Job complete or not. The constant barrage of negative stories on the news with no mention of any of the good being performed also turns people. We only hear stories about our soldiers when they commit a suspected crime. We never hear stories like this one on the news.

Also from the article:

Seeking access to Pelosi as Sheehan once did with Bush, Mother Tina Richards, whose Marine son survived two tours in Iraq, was recently arrestedfor camping outside the Speaker’s door. According to Richards, she has tried to meet with the Speaker since last year, to no avail. It seems that the Speaker, who made political hay by playing up the Bush-Sheehan controversy, now has her own Sheehan to deal with.

The article doesn’t mention that she previously had an altercation with Congressman Obey in which she was removed from his office.

The media is ignoring this story. Why is that when Cindy Sheehan protested the president we were subjected to it everyday on the news, and with this woman we don’t hear about it?

That’s a rhetorical question, we all know why.
