Rudi Guiliani holds Town Hall Meeting in New Hampshire
You can read about it here.
He talked about his view on taxes:
“If you understand how to lower taxes, you understand how to grow an economy,” Giuliani said. “I’ve done it more effectively than anyone else running for President.”
Positive economic growth, Giuliani said, comes from the private sector. Lowering taxes will allow the private sector to grow and produce jobs and income, which will help the United States stay competitive in the global economy.
He also talks about reducing spending, something I think we can all agree needs to be done. He talks about ending America’s dependency on foreign oil. Something I don’t believe will happen, but all candidates talk about it. It’s a hot button issue, and which candidate is going to say they are against it? None of them.
He also points to this fact:
During his time as mayor, Giuliani said he was able to accomplish great things such as lowering the number of people living in poverty and on welfare, reducing the crime rate and turning a $2.3 billion budget deficit into a multibillion dollar surplus.
That’s a key statement to me, reducing the people collecting welfare. Get them out working not making it too easy and tempting to earn a lifetime of free income. I’m not saying to just kick them out on the street, welfare should be a temporary solution to a bad situation, but it should not turn into a career. It’s too easy for people to collect welfare, SSI, and medicare that should be working.
On Iraq:
During his address, Giuliani also spoke against a troop withdrawal in Iraq and said that publicizing it would give opposing forces an advantage.
“It makes no sense to print out when and how you’re going to deplete your troops,” Giuliani said.
He added that Iraq is part of a larger war on terrorism and the United States should come out of the country with a structure in place to diffuse terrorism.
This is an issue I couldn’t agree with more. The more I look at the big three front runners, the more I think Guiliani is my man. I still have to see how some of the lesser known candidates do when the debates roll around.
