Several Congressmen write to PBS- ask them to air Documentary on Terrorism
This is a story I have been blogging about for about for about two weeks. PBS had made a documentary that was to be shown within a series they are running. It was about moderate Muslims who were speaking out about radical Islam. PBS decided not to air it because it painted the radicals in a bad light, they didn’t want to offend them. Political correctness gone amuck.
You can read my original posts here, here, and here. These posts have links to the articles I first referenced in regards to this issue.
PBS held a screening of this documentary on Wednesday and several congressmen appeared at it. You can read about it here.
From the article:
On Thursday, Franks drafted a letter, which he hopes other members of Congress will sign, urging the Public Broadcasting Service to air the documentary that it chose to keep out of the series “America at Crossroads.”
The film – co-produced by Burke, a Hollywood producer, and Frank Gaffney and Alex Alexiev of the Center for Security Policy – deals with the experiences of moderate Muslims who have fallen foul of Islamists. It also reveals an Islamist agenda including a push to build “parallel societies” in the West governed by Islamic law.
As I have posted before, if you don’t believe a parallel government can be set up that is governed by Muslim law, think again. It is already happening in Germany, where the court ruled it was okay for a Muslim man to beat his wife because the Koran condones it. It will eventually spread over here.
PBS brass reportedly sent Burke a note, asking him, “Don’t you check the politics of the people you work with?” – apparently a reference to Gaffney, who is president of the conservative think tank, the Center for Security Policy.
PBS executives reportedly sent notes to the producers, saying their film would “demonize Islam.”
There you have it, a conservative is behind this documentary. If he’s a conservative he must be a racist. If he’s a racist he must be an Islamophobe, so he will demonize Islam.
The bottom line is, there is a percentage of Muslims who want to destroy our culture but America seems to have forgotten that. September 11th is a distant memory, a bad dream. I think America needs to see this documentary to remind them there is evil in the world, evil that wants to destroy us.
I think it would be benificial to also see the Muslims who are against the radicals speaking up. I don’t think we hear enough from them, and this would be an opportunity to hear them.
PBS would rather not offend terrorists than show the American people the dark side of the Muslim religion.
