Manditory Seatbelts in Massachusettes…For Dogs
You read that correctly. Dogs will be required to wear seatbelts in Massachusetts. This is one of many new possible dog regulations coming to the Bay state. It’s good to know Gov. Deval Patrick has his priorities straight. He must be doing a wonderful job if this is the most pressing problem facing the state.
However some are worried that there is doggie discrimination in some of the proposed laws:
Canton animal control officer Ellen Barnett objected to the new regulation. “The problem I had with it is that it was too breed specific,”
Walsh said he and his fellow lawmakers are mindful of the pitfalls of singling out specific breeds. “Otherwise you’re penalizing an animal, in some regards, for what the owner lacked in training,” he said.
So there you have it, they will need to propose anti-dog-discrimination laws in Ma. because the legislature will be writing discrimination into law.
Let’s just hope none of these dogs are gay.
