Georgia Enacts law that Requires Mother to see Ultrasound Before an Abortion

May 24, 2007

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue Wednesday signed into law a bill mandating that women seeking abortion be given the opportunity to see an ultrasound of their unborn baby before having the abortion. The Full Disclosure Ultrasound Act goes into effect on July 1, 2007, making Georgia the 10th state to enact such a law. “This truly represents a trend among the states to provide a woman with all possible information before she makes a decision that will greatly affect her life and take the life of her unborn child,” said Mary Spaulding Balch, J.D., National Right to Life state legislative director. “Abortion is a decision that cannot be undone and women deserve all the fact,” she said in a press release. “Ultrasound is the window to the womb and allows women to see their unborn child,” Balch said. “We urge other states to join this trend and protect women and their unborn children.”

What else can I  say, I think it’s a good idea. Let the mother see there is life there before she destroys it. Maybe this will help save a few babies in Georgia that would not have had a chance.
