“Flying Imams” Drop Lawsuit Against Vigilent Citizens

August 1, 2007

Today the “flying Imams” dropped their lawsuits against the concerned citizens that reported their extremely suspicious behavior aboard an airplane. They have not dropped the lawsuit against the airline or it’s employees however. If you are unfamiliar with this story, you can read about it here.

This is great news for the citizens who reported the behavior, which included the Imams speaking about hating America, praising Saddam and Osama as verified by another Muslim not with the group who translated what the Imams were saying. Evidently these passengers were not racially profiling this Muslim, just the ones who arranged themselves in the same positions as the 9/11 terrorists, asked for seat-belt extenders even though they didn’t need them, and condemned America.

Now we just need to have them drop the lawsuit altogether. Now that they are not suing the passengers for reporting them, they have no basis, in my opinion, to sue the people who responded to the complaints.

This is why we need to get the so-called John Doe amendment passed. It is hard to believe that we need to have a bill passed that protects American citizens from lawsuits just for reporting suspicious Muslim activity, but we do. While this case has been dropped there will just be another one on the way soon.
