New Hampshire to Propose Higher Gas Taxes and Tolls
Just when you thought all the new taxes and fees were done being raised in New Hampshire in comes this.
Gasoline tax hikes and higher tolls are on a list of proposed fixes to the state Highway Fund that acting Transportation Commissioner Charles O’Leary recommended to lawmakers yesterday.
In a time when gasoline prices are at an all time high, as is the price of a barrel of oil, BAM the liberal state Democrats propose that you should pay more. The price of gas is being used as a political issue in the presidential elections and yet Democrats in New Hampshire are ready to make us pay more. It seems to me that the party that cares so much for the down-trodden in the world has had no problems raising taxes on these exact same people. This is the latest example. Who will higher gas taxes hurt the most? Low income earners of course. How can the party for the middle class have such a backdoor tax increase? Because they don’t care about us.
the state will need an extra 22 cents a gallon in gas taxes over the next 20 years for the state to stay even.
And not just higher gas taxes but higher tolls, and more of them.
should also consider increasing tolls across the board
He also suggested a new toll booth on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Nashua
I must be the only New Hampshire resident who is not surprised by this, at least it feels that way sometimes.
The latest New Hampshire budget had a 17.5% increase in spending, and doesn’t include money for the roads. What is even scarier though is that the latest budget doesn’t even include the funding for the governor’s new definition of an adequate education which the courts illegally said we must fund. Where is that money coming from? I have an idea, we can set up toll booths at the school parking lots.

And what does New Hampshire spend on the drug war?

Wow, this transportation fiasco is spreading far and wide, isn’t it? Every democratic lawmaker in the country is going to try to latch on to the bridge tragedy in Minnesota and use it to push for more taxes for “transportation needs.” It’s so despicable. It’s all about playing off of people’s fears and their hearts. Not only are people feeling strongly about transportation right now, I think that there is some fear that is being spread by the dems and the media who are now out there telling people that xx% of America’s bridges are deficient or whatever… Sadly this is all going to help grease the skids for tax increases and the democrats know it.

Isn’t it amazing the way the Dems are able to turn anything into a political issue?
