Chuck Schumer’s Comments About our Troops Failing in Iraq

September 6, 2007

“Let me be clear. The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from Al-Qaeda said to these tribes, “We have to fight Al-Qaeda ourselves.” It wasn’t that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here.”–Chuck Schumer on the Senate Floor

I heard Rush play this comment on his radio show today and was beyond disgust. I had trouble finding the quotes, but found this quote on Conservatism With Heart. This  comment goes beyond hurtful. To say our troops have failed while they are over there fighting is despicable. This man puts his political future, and the future of the Demorat party ahead of the safety of the troops. Not only does he say our troops have failed, he also tries to sell us on the fact that while it seems the surge is working it is just an incredible coincidence that the violence happens to be down since the surge has started.

Schumer is beyond disgusting. He is probably one of those that spit on us vets back in the ’70’s.

I will give Schumer the credit for standing on his convictions no matter how much it divides the country. It takes someone firm in their beliefs to not care how many lives he ruins by standing so firmly on them.

I have nothing kind to say about Schumer, he is beyond despicable. I too heard it on Rush and it made me so mad that I was determined to find the quote and post it. I scoured the internet and couldn’t find it so I waited until Rush had it up on his website.

Rico, being a veteran from that era I can only imagine how comments like Schumer make you feel. I know how they make me feel and I have never served, it has to be disheartening.

Jason, I don’t believe he can possible believe what he said, that is my biggest problem with what he said. It’s not even that he may divide the country with these remarks, it’s that he is giving comfort to the enemy during a time of war while our troops are fighting.

Dee, It is unbelievable how hurtful these comments are to our men and women overseas. The enemy hears everything that is said over here, and this helps motivate them to keep up the fight. Isn’t it amazing that these comments don’t appear to be newsworthy by the mainstream media?
