Latest New Hampshire Presidential Poll (09/18/07)

September 18, 2007

The Republican race seems to be tightening back up as Mitt had a big lead not too long ago, also Fred Thompson looks to be gaining although he shunned the New Hampshire debates, something I thought would hurt him.

In the presidential primaries, Rasmussen said its poll found that Republicans Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani are in a statistical dead heat in New Hampshire, with Romney holding a 25 to 22 percent edge.

Fred Thompson was supported by 19 percent, John McCain by 12 percent, Mike Huckabee by 4 percent with 13 percent undecided.

As for the Democrat party, Hillary just keeps expanding her lead. This appears to be a runaway at this point. I have to believe that Obama exposed himself with his recent foreign policy gaffes, while Hillary manages to play both sides of the fence.

Rasmussen says it also polled 500 likely Democratic primary voters and found that Hillary Clinton leads Barack Obama 40 to 17 percent with John Edwards backed by 14 percent and Bill Richardson, by 11 percent. It did not provide a percentage for undecided Democrats.

A Franklin Pierce poll, however, has Romney with a seven point lead. The Democrat poll is relatively the same as the Rasmussen poll above.

Separately, Franklin Pierce University/WBZ surveys of 400 likely Republican primary voters and 403 Democratic primary voters completed Sept. 11-14 show Romney and Clinton leading.

Romney leads Giuliani 30 to 23 percent, with McCain at 14 percent, Thompson at 8 percent, Ron Paul and possible candidate Newt Gingrich at 3 percent each, Huckabee at 2 percent, and Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback, Duncan Hunter and Chuck Hagel, who is not running, at 1 percent each with 12 percent undecided.

In a June FPU/WBZ poll, Romney led Giuliani, 27 to 18 percent with McCain at 17 percent.

On the Democratic side, Clinton leads Obama, 36 to 18 percent, with Edwards at 12 percent, Richardson at 10 percent, Al Gore, who is not a candidate, at 5 percent, Dennis Kucinich and Joe Biden at 3 percent each, with Chris Dodd and Mike Gravel at 1 percent each and 11 percent undecided.
