New Hampshire Toll Increases = More Jobs for Government Hacks

  Well now that New Hampshire is raising the tolls on the roads, not just raising them, by the way, in many cases doubling them, we see what the first change will be to our roads. MORE GOVERNMENT HACKS.

  That’s right as soon as the tolls are raised Governor Lynch will have more opportunities to hire his cronies onto the government payroll. Currently in New Hampshire we have exact change lanes where you can throw your change into a basket and the proceed on your way. Once the toll are increased those baskets are going to be replaced with hacks. As if it weren’t bad enough that more than half of the toll money is diverted away from the roads where it belongs and into Governor Lynch’s liberal social programs, now we get more government employees.

  What I find the most aggravating aspect about this, besides the increase, is the explanation of WHY we need people in the exact toll toll booths. You see we are considered to stupid to use them now. This is downright insulting to me.

“When we went to a dollar in Hampton people tried to throw dollar bills into the basket,” turnpike bureau supervisor Harvey Goodwin said.

With recent stepped up police patrols at toll booths, dollars fluttering into coin baskets would bring a surge in tickets for toll evasion.

  They are afraid people will throw dollar bills into the baskets, therefor we need more people on the payroll. People who just happen to have a connection. This statement below does actually make me smile:

Goodwin said when the exact change lane goes away, people will take their place – smiling, happy people, Goodwin expects.

“We’ve always had very customer friendly toll attendants in New Hampshire. We make that very much part of our hiring process and orientation with toll attendants,” he said. “In many cases, the first person a tourist sees in our state is a toll booth attendant.”

  I would be happy and smiling too if I were able to score a government hack job. Of coarse they are happy, they are being paid at taxpayer expense.

  By the way, I don’t think it is necessarily a good thing that the first thing out-of-staters see when entering New Hampshire are toll booths. Welcome to New Hampshire, NOW PAY UP.
