New Hampshire 1st District Republican Candidates Assail Government Spending as they Look to Unseat Carol Shea Porter

October 23, 2007

A Republican Committee in New Hampshire recently hosted a breakfast with Jeb Bradley and John Stephen, both of whom are running against each other in the Republican primary for the New Hampshire First District Representative seat currently held by congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter.

Carol Shea-Porter beat incumbent Jeb Bradley in the 2006 elections, he is now running for a chance at a rematch. John Stephen ran against Jeb Bradley in the 2002 primary election and lost.

 Said Bradley:

“I didn’t forget where I came from,” he said. “Everybody in this room had my cell phone number because I wanted to be accessible and accountable.”

Democrats in Concord and Washington do not represent New Hampshire because they are on a spending spree, he added.

Bradley said the most important issue for Congress, however, must be winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said he regrets neither his votes in favor of authorizing the wars nor his support for those wars.

John Stephen had this to offer:

“This is not just in the last year, folks; in the last five years there has been 1.5 trillion in deficit spending,” said Stephen said, who recently stepped down as the state’s Health and Human Services commissioner to run for the House seat. “That represents $1,000 for every man, woman and child for each of those last five years. That money has to be made up.”

Stephen also took aim at what he called a growing Washington, D.C., influence on New Hampshire.

“What I have seen in the last five years is more and more Washington values being brought into this state,” he said. “Not only has the situation stayed the same in Washington, over the last five years it has gotten worse.”

New Hampshire can’t go wrong with either of these men in the US house of representatives, but I am supporting Jeb Bradley as I thought he was doing a very good job as my representative and did not deserve the fate that befell him when the blue wave swept over New Hampshire in the last election.

Which ever man comes out of the primary on top I will support over our current moonbat Rep., Carol Shea-Porter. Hopefully New Hampshire is ready to do right by the man that was wronged in the last election and put Jeb Bradley back in the first district house seat. Carol Shea-Porter’s approval rating is below Bradley’s at the time of the last election and her seat is ripe for the picking.

Stand up New Hampshire and do the right thing.

I was at this same breakfast. I am supporting John Stephen.
He has a great record. Jeb is a bit too liberal for me. After all I’m an extreme right winger Ron Paul supporter! 🙂
