New Hampshire Prisons Win PETA’s Approval

This feel good liberal puff piece that appeared in today’s New Hampshire Union Leader is enough to make you throw up in your mouth a couple of times. It is all about how New Hampshire prisoners now have a vegan diet available to them as well as healthy dietary meals. Well thank God for that. I have to be honest, I couldn’t believe what I was reading, so let’s take a look at it, shall we?

“Prison food has traditionally gotten a bad rap, but you won’t hear many complaints from vegetarians and vegans who are serving time in New Hampshire. The delicious vegetarian shepherd’s pie, pot pies, lentil ‘meatballs,’ and tofu sandwiches have inmates asking for seconds,” PETA said in an announcement of the rankings yesterday.

Now doesn’t that help you sleep at night? Just knowing that criminals are enjoying delicious tofu sandwiches on the taxpayer’s dime makes me feel as though my tax dollars are well spent. NOT. New Hampshire needs to come up with $400 million dollars to fund the education bill that liberal governor John Lynch signed without any funding plan, yet we can ensure our criminals are eating vegetarian and vegan meals. Wonderful. How about we start by cutting out the special menu and put that towards education?

“Whenever you see convicted criminals turning away from a violent animal-based diet, it’s a good sign,” PETA vice president Bruce Friedrich said.

According to a chart on this pdf file, New Hampshire averages about 1000 violent criminals incarcerated a year since 1997. Now we hear PETA telling us how wonderful it is that some of these criminals, who committed violent acts against other people may select a diet that is kind to animals. Here we see the liberal hypocrisy of such organizations. They are more concerned with the health and well being of a couple of cows, and protecting cow’s rights when they should be more concerned with the fact that there are violent criminals that need to pay their debt to society. Some of these criminals are rapists and murderers, but at least they wont be engaging in violent acts against animals by eating them. Isn’t it nice to see PETA standing up for the rights of such low-lifes as SOME of these people are?

New Hampshire prisons are the fifth best in the nation in PETA’s eyes for their well diversified vegan and healthy menus. Prisoners, PETA has your back.
