California Wants to Control Residential Thermostats by Remote Control
Every time I start to feel as though New Hampshire is getting out of control, every time I feel independent minded New Hampshirites have lost their way, I just look at California, and then I don’t feel so bad.
This International Herald Tribune article writes that if state regulators have their way, they will be able to control the temperature in private citizen’s home by remote control. the new regulations would go into effect for new homes, but how long would it be before they were required in all homes? The article goes on to say that the regulators can change the thermostat in your house to their recommended temperature and you would be able to over-ride it. However, the government would then be able to over-ride your temperature again and lock it in if they wanted to.
“You realize there are times – very rarely, once every few years – when you would be subject to a rotating outage and everything would crash including your computer and traffic lights, and you don’t want to do that,” said Arthur Rosenfeld, a member of the energy commission.
Reducing individual customers’ electrical use – if necessary, involuntarily – could avoid that, Rosenfeld said. “If you can control rotating outages by letting everyone in the state share the pain,” he said, “there’s a lot less pain to go around
Look at the buzz words in that last paragraph- involuntary, and- share the pain. This is “the common good”attitude of socialism at it’s best, but involuntary control is communism at it’s worst. This isn’t the first act by California to regulate behaviors in the home and private businesses, as can be read here, and here , and it won’t be the last if Californians don’t wake up.
A technician for AC service in San Antonio put it best:
“This is an outrage,” said in an e-mail message to Rosenfeld. “They need to build new facilities to handle the growth in that state, not become Big Brother to the citizens of California.”
That would be the proper way to go about insuring that there were no more shortages, however the environmentalist, global warming alarmists will not want anything to do with that idea. Besides how will the government of California gain more control of your life if there were more power plants? They want to MAKE you live your life the way they think you should, building more plants would just encourage what they believe is your bad behavior. They will FORCE you to change your habits. What’s next? Remote control water flow, enforced by a visit from the government plumber… Oh, and by the way, don’t think for a minute that the government won’t use the global warming hoax as a reason to not build more plants. Global warming is a convenient tool for use when the government wants more control over your everyday life.
I find it hypocritical that when it comes to what two adults do in their own bedroom, it is between the two people, but when it comes to everything else in your house its- WATCH OUT, WE ARE COMING.

The push for a communist USA has my wife and I making alternative plans. With the REAL ID’s and the slew of other things, we are planning on eventually leaving the country and moving back to the Philippines.
There the government is corrupt. The difference is everyone there knows it and just tries to make it cover some basics. Personal responsibility, accountability and morality are still the rule with the population. They are a self-controlled people.
Sometimes I think we are sliding backwards in time to the feudal ages. “United we stand, divided we fall.” We are a country that couldn’t be more divided.
The thing that I just do not get with the socialists and the communist push is we know how miserable that form of government fails.

Here it is. It’s that slippery slope of the nanny state that people seem to think is a fable.
Once you open the floodgates and allow the government to start controlling your lives, it won’t stop.
They ave a voluntary program run by the electric company here that allows them to regulate how much you use you central air during peak electricity demand periods, but in return for volunteering for the program you get a credit on your bill.
That is the right way to do it. It works. Many people voluntarily go for the program. Having the state come in and take over like this is asinine to say the least!

As a side note, why does the government have so little faith that the free market will do the right thing if allowed to operate without excessive regulation and control?

I think the key word is “free”, they don’t seem to like the concept of “free”. There is nothing in it for them. With regulations come fees. Plus, they don’t feel like they are doinkg anything if their not banning or regulating something.

That is true, although I still feel that there is a huge trust issue. They all seem to act like they truly believe that everything will fall apart if they aren’t there to guide everybody down the “right” path. It’s absurd and insulting.

They do think they know what is best for everybody, and even if they are right about it, it is none of their buisness. I just wish they would realize it. It is very insulting that they don’t think we can be trusted to make our own decisions.

The problem is that they aren’t often right 🙂
They want to steer us based on their own personal feelings or beliefs. It’s like I (we) have been saying for a while. We are not accurately represented any more.
Somebody yesterday was bitching to me that Fred was asleep in the Senate because he didn’t generate any legislation. After giving it some thought I realized that it doesn’t matter how much legislation anybody generates, because 99.9% of legislation generated in Congress is just fluff aimed at making a statement or proving something to a special interest. So should somebody’s job in congress be judged by how much fluff they generate?
I guess if legislation was aimed at America in general and had our best interests in mind, yes. But not if it is just aimed at either exerting control and expanding government rule, or pandering to somebody, then no way.

Fresno’s escalating corruption while covering up of ID theft, disappearances and suspected homicide as the city sewer/water/power infrastructures are being illegally altered is bad enough. But to add remote control to our thermostats as the accompanying “gassing through vents” scenario continues to take place seems like planning of a mass suicide / genocide. One of the people involved is the father of a local FBI agent – he repeatedly said that a disaster was coming, which would leave everyone dead. Even though it would be more costly, it may be time to go back to window air conditioning and space heaters. Click below:
