Democrats Admit President Bush was Right, Agree to Tax Cuts
Today the House and President Bush agreed on an economic stimulus package. This package includes tax rebates. This is the first thing that the House has gotten right since Democrats took control in 2006.
There is one aspect to this that I find interesting. For years we have heard from Democrats that the Bush tax cuts need to be repealed. The Democrats have refused to make the cuts permanent. All of the Democrats running for president have vowed to repeal the Bush tax cuts. Yet now, in the face of all of this recession alarmism, Democrats decide to grant tax repeals. Is this not an admittance that tax cuts and lower taxes stimulate the economy? Is this not an admittance that the president was right?
So why now? Why would the Democrats suddenly change their tune? It obvious to me now that they knew all along that the Bush tax cuts were what got us out of the Clinton recession, yet they were still against them.
This is why I believe that Democrats have decided to side with the president to cut taxes. I believe that they are so sure that they are going to win the white house that they don’t want to take any chances that they will inherit an economy in decline and thus take the blame for an economic slowdown. They are willing to bite the bullet and agree to the tax rebates, the same rebates that they were against for all these years, because they don’t think Americans will put two and two together and ask why are Democrats suddenly for rebates they have been against. They are taking this chance because they believe the consequences of being in the white house during a recession would be worse than the consequences of flip-flopping on the issue of tax rebates.
Democrats believe that Americans are either too stupid or uncaring to notice this sudden change of position on taxes.
This change of position from Democrats on taxes have just shown us that President Bush was right to cut taxes in the first place and also that they opposed them knowing that the cuts stimulated the economy. Democrats knew that the tax cuts were right or they wouldn’t be going along with them now.
Thank you Democrats for admitting, in not so many words, that President Bush was right for cutting taxes in the first place.

Have you heard any of the comments from his and her royal highnesses (Pelosi and Reid) about this though?
Even though this is being hailed as a successful bipartisan effort, neither of them could leave well enough alone. I heard both of them on the radio last night whining and complaining about the whole thing and bitching about how they don’t like it but they begrudgingly accepted it anyway. Reid is also claiming that it won’t make it through the senate without being changed, so we’ll see just how partisan that asshole is going to be here.
I just can’t believe that even with this, the democratic leadership can’t just leave their partisan politics rhetoric out of it. They always have to let the country know that the Republicans suck, their ideas suck and even if the idea is a good one, it’s still not really that good.
I wonder if it’s rough to be that negative all the time?

Dick Durbin has also managed to tie the tax cuts into the Iraq war, now that is somebody who really can’t let it go!
