Has Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick Quit on His State?

April 3, 2008

captd9b66ea0c0af42b88911c56133b6e59bmassachusetts_governor_patrick_maea104.jpg Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has learned the same lesson that his predecessor, Mitt Romney, had learned. That lesson is that the governorship of Massachusetts is nothing but a figurehead. The entrenched corrupt legislators are the ones who control the agenda and it doesn’t matter who the governor is. The speaker of the house, Sal DiMasi, runs Massachusetts, he is the person who’s skids must be greased if you want to accomplish anything in Massachusetts.

Mitt Romney was criticized by the former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, during the primary as a person who was not able to accomplish much as governor. He was trashed by Giuliani as ineffective because he was not able to persuade the liberal leadership in Massachusetts to follow his lead. Now moonbat Deval Patrick, with a state government that must be about 96% moonbat, cannot accomplish anything. Maybe it wasn’t Romney’s fault after all.

At least Governor Romney balanced the budget and brought fiscal responsibility to Massachusetts. Governor Patrick, not so much. Governor Patrick has amassed a budget deficit at a New Hampshire type rate of around $73 million this fiscal year.

He ran a campaign on cutting property taxes, and he failed. He committed many new dollars in spending and how did he propose to pay for it? By approving casinos in Massachusetts. The only problem is that Sal DiMasi wasn’t going to receive the kickbacks required for his vote so it was doomed to fail. And it has.

So you may be wondering why I called this post “Has Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick Quit on His State?”

Here is why. On the day that the vote on the most integral part of Patrick’s platform was to take place, was Patrick fighting for his biggest proposal? The same proposal he banked all this extra revenue on. No.

Governor Patrick gave up the fight and was actually in New York. But why was he in New York instead of fighting for his beliefs? Because he was finalizing a $1.3 million book deal.

Massachusetts is in fiscal turmoil, but the governor is not, he is now sitting pretty. Towns all over the state will be voting to override prop 2 1/2 to fund “necessary” programs, yet the governor was busy lining his own pockets. He was more interested in his own well being than the well being of the state he was entrusted to govern.

Governor Patrick now realizes there is nothing he can do to govern the corrupt legislature of Massachusetts, he has given up and is now just riding out his term while he looks out for number one. The question is, which finger is he holding up to Massachusetts to show he is number one?

Giuliani was never “governor of New York”. He was mayor of NYC.

The same finger the rest of the country holds up everytime socialism succeeds over common sense, loyalty and democracy in Massachusetts.

But, why hasn’t the genius of socialism faired better than fiscal turmoil for Massachusetts??

Why hasn’t the free healthcare Willard championed put smiles on all of those liberally progressive faces??

With all the infringements upon our Second Amendment why does violent crime continue to rise there??

    Perhaps, PJ O’Rourke ( didn’t he move from MA?? ) was right;

“At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child – miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill disciplined, despotic, and useless. Liberalism is the philosophy of sniveling brats.”

Obama lite (Deval) is a great example of why feelings shouldn’t put someone in office. He came into office with no clue and as reality set in he resorted to casinos to save the state. The Dems in the legislature canned that and now he’ll have to resort to tax increases and exerting government control of more of our freedom and money. Oh yeah btw the health plan is going into the red. awesome !

in the governers attempt to show people that he could make changes in ma he made one fundamental error after another. just look at the problem with overhauling the department of social servies in the case of the 14 year old little girl who was beaten into a coma. the dss dropped the ball on this one and then the governer tried to cover this up by making a major overhaul on dss. the concept was good because they did need something done but in the process they may have sent an innocent man to jail to prove a point. this just proves that they will do whatever they need to so that they appear to be making a difference when in fact they have no clue what is going on.

Shame on the people in Massachusetts. You vote this idiot into office and praise him as a great African-American. He was a big-wig with a mortage company that screwed over black and poor people as policy. Mortage companies like this are what have put America in the finicial ruin it is in now. Patrick continues to hire his buddies for big money jobs that are a joke. “waterfront coordinator” ? What a scumbag this guy is. I am surprised the homosexual population in MA hasn’t given him a bad time for not coming out of the closet yet.
