New Hampshire Democrats Update Platform to Include an Income Tax
Last week the New Hampshire Democrat party had their state convention, and according to this article they tried to hide their true platform. While voting to amend the state party platform they failed to add language to oppose the death penalty, but only because they were reminded by party leaders that it might not be beneficial to oppose the death penalty before the election because a cop killer is going on trial just before the election. It wouldn’t look good, so they will wait until after the election to make their opposition public. Several Democrats changed their votes based on perception not principle.
I can understand if a person opposes the death penalty, I don’t have a problem with a person who thinks that it is wrong to end a person’s life for any reason. You just have to ignore the fact that most people that think that killing a murderer is wrong also think that killing an unborn baby just because you don’t want it is okay. The hypocrisy is astounding.
But that is not what I wanted to write about tonight, that is a discussion for another day. I wanted to write about the other sneaky thing that the Democrat party did at the convention last week. They added to their party platform their support for an income tax. They just used a little creative language to disguise it.
delegates approved a platform amendment supporting a new state tax system “that would lower property taxes while at the same time considering ability to pay as a criterion for assessing taxes.”
As the article goes on to say, there is only one form of tax that would consider the ability to pay. It would have to be based on how much a person earns, an income tax. The fallacy in this whole scheme is the notion that property taxes would be lowered. I call bullshit. If an income tax is instituted it will be in addition to the property tax, not in place of the property tax. New Hampshire residents will just have even less money, but the government will have more money. And that is all that Governor Lynch really cares about when all is said and done.
What is equally disturbing is the number of Democrats that voted in favor of the income tax, it was approved by a 336-188 vote. So be warned New Hampshire, if you vote these people back in you deserve what you get.
How many voters aren’t even aware that this went on last week and will vote for these clowns without even knowing what they are voting for? How many people will vote for these people just because they don’t approve of President Bush? How many voters feel that they are worse off than before because of the economy and gas prices and are going to vote for the very people who have now made it part of their party’s platform to take more money away from them?
New Hampshire voters need to start paying attention to what is going on in this state. AND FAST!

Hmm, I thought they voted to NOT put language in for an income tax?
Did I read this wrong?

According to the article that I linked to the language was approved, however they used a clever little phrase to hide it, from the article:
By an overwhelming 336-188 vote, delegates approved a platform amendment supporting a new state tax system “that would lower property taxes while at the same time considering ability to pay as a criterion for assessing taxes.”
There is only one tax system that can fit that definition: an income tax.
Knowing the nature of who we are dealing with I would say the article is right, that the above language does reference an income tax.
