United States Hands Anbar Province Over to the Iraqis

 The good news keeps on coming out of Iraq, although you wouldn’t know it based on the commercials and rhetoric being offered by Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

 Yesterday the United States handed Anbar Province over to the Iraqis, they are now in charge of the province that once symbolized the insurgence in Iraq.

Two years ago, Anbar Province was the most lethal place for American forces in Iraq. A U.S. marine or soldier died in the province nearly every day, and the provincial capital, Ramadi, was a moonscape of rubble and ruins. Islamic extremists controlled large pieces of territory, with some so ferocious in their views that they did not even allow the baking of bread.

On Monday, U.S. commanders formally returned responsibility for keeping order in Anbar Province, once the heartland of the Sunni insurgency, to the Iraqi Army and police

 Here is what Barack Obama had to say about this momentus occasion:

 That’s right, he had nothing to say, he ignored the story completely.

  The war in Iraq has improved to the point where a “time horizon” for withdrawal was negotiated between Condi Rice and Iraq, and General Petraeus is readying his proposal to draw down the troops, yet these developments are being ignored by the anointed one, Barack Obama. Now we have learned that the symbol of the supposed civil war in Iraq, Anbar Province, is safe enough to hand over to the Iraqis.

 Even as Barack Obama negligently misrepresents the conditions in Iraq to impress his far left base the conditions on the ground in Iraq continue to improve.

 Another milestone was reached today, a milestone that was good for America and bad for Barack Obama and the Democrats who so badly want the news out of Iraq to be bad. So instead of praising the United States military and congratulating them on a job well done the Obama campaign has just decided to ignore another sign that the war is winding down.
