Harry Reid Hints at Payback for Joe Lieberman
The Democrat party moonbats shit on Joe Lieberman in the 2006 elections and he lost to an anti-war opponent in the primary. Undaunted he ran as an Independent in the general election and the (slightly) more sane Democrats re-elected him. He did not leave the Democrat party, he was thrown out.
Even though he shunned the wishes of the leaders of the Democrat party by running as an Independent they welcomed him back to the fold. He was allowed to hold onto his Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairmanship. This was strictly done for political reasons. With a razor thin majority of 51-49 ( counting Lieberman as a Democrat voter) they were forced to kiss his ass for fear that he would jump ship. They couldn’t afford to lose his vote or their majority would be gone.
Now Harry Reid is threatening payback for Lieberman for speaking at the Republican National
Convention.
Currently the Democrats need Lieberman because with him they hold a 51-49 vote majority but with the gains that Democrats are counting on with their house and senate majorities Joe Lieberman may become expendable to them. Democrats are so sure that they are going to have a large majority after November that they are willing to begin speaking out against Joe Lieberman.
What was Lieberman’s crime? What did he do that has the Democrats so enraged? He stuck to his beliefs and principles and put them above partisan politics. He continued to support the Iraq war even when it became unpopular with the American people and the Democrats grew more and more anti-war for political gain. He stuck to what he believed was right and said to hell with the party.
Democrats aren’t used to a person who will stick to his beliefs even if they aren’t popular. Democrats are used to sticking their fingers in the air, seeing which way the wind is blowing, and then gutlessly floating in that direction. Joe Lieberman refused to compromise his belief that we should continue fighting the Iraq war, and while I disagree with this man on every other issue, If I were a Democrat I would be proud of Joe Lieberman because he is not a man who changes his positions based on partisan reasons. He stands up for what he believes in. Democrats, instead of praising his courage, are now ready to hang him politically for holding on to what he believes is right.
It is a sad state of affairs when doing what is right for the party is more important than doing what is right for the country.

I never really understood why Lieberman stuck with the democrats after the way they treated him. I hope he got as much as he was able to get from the democrats. However, I think he already knew that he was on his way out which is why he had no problems speaking at RNC.

Lieberman still holds the liberal agenda in his heart, there was never any chance that he would switch parties. This is the one issue that he disagreed with his party on.
You are probably right, he also figures that the Democrats will grow their majority and he will not be needed so why not go after them before they dump him?

Exactly!!! And I can only imagine how mad the Dems are at him, they are probably spitting nails for him speaking at the Republican convention.

He has definately drawn the ire of Democrats, there will be consequences if the Democrats gain a larger majority. I still hope that the Republicans will be able to hold off a veto proof majority. It would be funny if the Democrats still needed Lieberman after this election and couldn’t pay him back. That would really piss them off.
