How Does Governor Sununu Sound?

 Forgive me for diving into the 2010 election already but just hear me out on this one. I have a little bit of optimism after learning that New Hampshire house Republicans gained 17 seats in this election.

 I am of the opinion that this will be Lord Teflon’s last term as governor of the great state of New Hampshire, not because he is in any danger of losing a re-election bid but because I don’t think that he will be running again. I believe his goal is to follow the path of the state’s last governor, Jeanne Shaheen and he is looking at taking on Judd Gregg in 2010 for the United States senate. His latest term ends conveniently on the same year as does Judd Gregg’s. I believe with all my conviction that this will be John Lynch’s next move.

 That being said, one of the problems that Republicans have had in trying to defeat John Lynch is that they haven’t had a candidate with name recognition. Obviously John Sununu has that. He would be well funded and may actually get the help of the NHGOP. Speaking of the NHGOP, it is time for Fergus Cullen to go, we need new blood in the chairman’s position.

 Anyway, I know and understand that he just lost his re-election bid and is unpopular right now, but two years is a long time and anything can happen before then. This time it would be the Democrats who would yield a candidate of little known background, although that didn’t stop New Hampshire voters for voting for Obama, and perhaps this would give John Sununu an advantage.

 So while John Lynch, in my opinion, will jump ship to the US senate just in time to avoid the consequences of his failed economic policies, Republicans will have a chance to win back the governorship.

 I say draft John Sununu. It may sound foolish now to those that voted him out but in two years, maybe not so much. What’s the worse that could happen? Joe Kenney only got 25% of the vote.
