GOP Senator Says Republicans Haven’t Learned Their Lesson
An anonymous Republican United States senator has said that Republicans haven’t learned their lesson and that if they don’t do so soon than they will lose more elections. I agree with him that Republicans haven’t learned their lessons, but I disagree with the lessons that this man thinks that we need to learn.
This GOP senator claims that Republicans need to become more like Democrats if they want to win.
He talks a little about immigration. He is a moderate on immigration, which is to say he is out of step with most of his party. He says the Republican hard line on immigration hurt the party with Hispanics.
Excuse me senator but wasn’t John McCain the author of the amnesty bill that President Bush was in favor of passing? The man who won the nomination of the Republican party was willing to sell out our country, the country that he once defended, to illegal immigrants that DO NOT BELONG HERE!
This senator also embraces big government.
Small government — the mantra of the Republican Party ever since Ronald Reagan — will not work anymore, the senator says.
“We can’t revive the ghost of Ronald Reagan,” he says. “People want government in times of need.”
According to this senator Republicans need to embrace big government, he claims that people want bigger government. This senator does not sound like a Republican to me.
What does this Republican think about people owning their own houses?
“Homeownership?” the senator says eventually. “That’s not so good, is it?”
Is this where our party is headed? Are we to become the illegal alien amnesty granting, big government, no private property party? How is it possible for the Republicans to regain their base, the base that abandoned them in the last two elections for forgetting who they were if they continue to blur the line between Republican and Democrat? The answer to the Republican party’s problems is not to become more like Democrats it is to distinguish differences between the parties and let the people decide.
John McCain tried the philosophy that this senator employs, he ran as a Democrat lite, he courted moderates and Democrats and abandoned his base and we saw what the result was. And now this senator wants to continue this lunacy? This is a recipe for disaster.
I have to say that I couldn’t disagree with this senator any more than I do. He speaks about winning votes by listening to, and one can presume, using campaign rhetoric to tell voters what they want to hear instead of sticking to beliefs and winning over votes based on ideals. What good does it do to regain power if the way you regain power is to change who you are and what you believe?
If Republicans believe that the only way to win elections is to become more like Democrats and they do become more like Democrats than what difference does it matter who you vote for? If you are going to vote for either a Democrat or a faux Democrat you might as well vote for the real deal.
It is time for Republicans to get a clear, consise message, it is time to highlight the differences between Republicans and Democrats and let the voters decide. If we continue to run Democrat lite candidates like John McCain for offices we will continue to lose. It is not time to hide in the shadows and hope we are not seen, it is tome to come out fighting for what we believe in and take back the country.
I just hope that there are not too many more Republicans, politicians and voters, who believe what this senator believes. I hope that there are a vast majority of Republicans who believe what I do and that is that we must show the country our policies and not the policies that we think will help us win. It is not time to blur the line between parties, it is time to draw the line between parties. If we don’t do that than this senator is right, we haven’t learned our lesson. However it is the exact opposite lesson than the one he thinks we should have learned.
John McCain is living proof about what happens when you run a faux Democrat against a true Democrat. That should be a lesson to all Republicans.
We must take our party back.

Republicans were the ones who let business’s be part of emanate domain. I’m also sure he was reffering to the current economic crisis.
I can tell by your Regan Shrine that you love him. Regan was the point where the Republican party began to move away from it’s core values. Regan reduced government no doubt, he also increased waste Bush Sr and Junior. Less went to social problems and more towards military spending…you know the militiary..the multitrillion dollar organization fought to a stand still by people with camels and bombs powered by garage door openers.
Republicans didn’t walk away from the voters, they are as hawkish and rhetoric filled as ever, the voters walked away from them.

Sarcasim aside, Ronald Regan was the best leader that this country has seen since Johnson. And Johnson was before my time, so Regan was the best leader of our time. Or so I say.
And just for the record, I vote my values, as do most people who identify themselves as Republicans, not necessarily party. Just so happens that the Republican party line is directly in line with my values. Too bad it turned out this time around to be just “A line.” McCain is not a true Republican, to central, but he was as the closest thing running and I will continue to vote as far Right as I have the choice. Unless Hal Turner runs for president, that is. That guy is a wacko who’s extreme views and public expression of said views only serves to undermine the efforts of true conservatives.
And by the way, the greatest military force on the earth was not, is not held at a stand still by people with camels and bombs powered by garage door openers. But rather by the namby pamby, limp wristed liberals of the world. If we are going to fight a war, it cannot be done, or won, by pussy footing arround and worrying about whom we might offend or that someone might get hurt. Everyone who knows anything about it knows that far fewer people suffer if you get in there and get the job done right and get it done now. This new age nicey, nicey war only leads to more casualties and more money down the drain. War is not nice, it is not kind, it is not gentle. That’s why it should be avoided when possible, and why it should be pre-impted when necessary.
It’s not about wheither or not you agree with the war, we are in there so get it done and get it done now.
This war would have taken less than a year if we had had the balls to just drop in the Marines and say “Ok Devil Dogs, you can come home when this mess is cleaned up.” And then step back and let them do their freaking job.

Quit worrying about whether the candidate is Rep or Dem since they all lie anyway … just vote for the ones whose record is as consistent with your beliefs as you can find. Personally I think we should vote them all out and start over … does anyone remember term limits!
