Barney Frank Says Obama Overestimates His Ability to Charm People

 Barney Frank is pissed off at president-elect Obama. It all started because Obama is going to have Rev. Rick Warren give the invocation at his inauguration. Rick Warren is against gay marriage and his choice by Obama has the gay community including Barney Frank up in arms. The gay community either gave Barack Obama a pass on the gay marriage issue before the election or they didn’t know his position. He holds the same position on gay marriage as the Rev. Rick Warren. Obama’s choice of Warren is an attempt to reach across the aisle and placate conservatives. Obama promised to unite America and yet his left leaning constituents seem to want nothing to do with unity judging by the reaction to Warren’s invitation. So much for being sensitive to the views of others.

 Today Barney Frank said that Obama overestimates his ability to charm the American people.

“But my one question is, I think he overestimates his ability to take people, particularly our colleagues on the right, and, sort of, charm them into being nice,”

 Maybe he is correct about this, Barack Obama probably will not be able to charm conservatives through his smooth talking, and eloquent speeches. That may have worked in the election with the left, but conservatives want substance and results not just rhetoric, no matter how well he may say it.
