Janet Napolitano Refuses to Use the Term “Terrorist”

March 22, 2009

During an interview that Janet Napolitano, Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary, did last week she was asked why she did not use the word “terrorism” while addressing congress for the first time. This was her answer:

In my speech, although I did not use the word “terrorism,” I referred to “man-caused” disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.

Terrorism is just such a dirty word, it makes those who commit man-caused disasters seem like such bad people. When you call someone a terrorist you are using the politics of fear, the term man caused disaster doesn’t make the terrorists, or the acts they commit, sound as bad. It diminishes the act of the terrorist. And besides calling someone a terrorist might make them mad and we need to fight a kinder, gentler war on man caused disasters. This is life under President Obama, we have people in the Homeland Security Department that can’t even call the enemy what and who they really are. Besides the president has some friends that have ties to man caused disasters in their past, and we wouldn’t want to offend the president’s friends.

But this brings up another issue that I have on this issue. When I hear reporters and politicians on television refer to September 11th as a tragedy or a disaster it aggravates the hell out of me. September 11th was neither of those terms, it was an ATTACK!  We do not call the attack on Pearl Harbor the “tragedy” or the “disaster” of Pearl Harbor and September 11th was no different.

The term disaster that Janet Napolitano wants to use isn’t even the right term.

We have people in our own government, in Homeland Security, who don’t want to call the terrorists what they are because that would be using the politics of fear. By using the term man caused disasters we are shifting the focus away from the person who committed the act and more towards the end result. We are dehumanizing the act of terrorism by making it sound like it is just another disaster.

Janet Napolitano may think that the shift from the term “terrorism” to the term “man caused disaster” is just nuance but it goes much deeper than that. It shows a weakness and an unwillingness to confront the enemy. If people in Homeland Security are too afraid to accurately describe the enemy because it sounds too bad how can we trust them?

Sonds to me like she’s lumping terrorism in with “global warming”. I’m sure the real moonbats do consider them the same anyway.

You mean to tell me this nutcase is the head of Homeland Security? It’s just beyond comprehension.

DOn’t call her a nutcase, you might hurt her fellings. This is supposed to be a kinder, gentler Homeland Security Department. She is only trying to make everyopne feel better. 🙂

Neopolitano completely lacks the credentials to be in-charge of protecting our country from the likes of Al Qaida… clearly narcissist Obama needs to be surrounded by mindless drones to confirm his omnipotence and pollyanna world view. All Obama had to do to give these 7th-Century ogres pause was appoint, say, a Guiliani, but no… we get this frumpy nothing.

Besides the lack of prerequisites, these appointments are a show of weakness that will surely encourage the terrorists who see America as their enemy… no matter how blatantly Obama tries to surrender.

With bespectacled-bureacrat Leon Panetta running the CIA plus Hillary, that makes a perfect trio of national security incompetents- this man has absolutely NO intelligence, law enforcement, or military experience of any kind… there’s nobody more qualified in the United States for this vital position?

And the unqualified and conflicted Hillary? This obvious political deal by two serial opportunists is appalling, to say the least. But anyone who expected Obama to act in the country’s best interests, rather than for his own political security and whacked-out agenda, hasn’t really taken a serious look at how he got this far in the first place.

Clearly the lack of credentials is what makes these people qualified to be in Obama’s cabinet, it’s what they all have in common.

Without a doubt, the largest “man caused disaster” to befall our great country since it’s inception was the Presidential election of 2008. I would have gladly provided the funding if Ann Dunham wanted to abort that asshole! Does anyone have a time machine?

“man” caused??? Why is “man” caused. Are you implying that women can’t perform these acts? Thanks Janet!

Let’s see if I get this straight. Napolitano uses the term “man-caused disasters” in place of “terrorist”,
to demonstrate that we want to move away from the politics of fear. The term “right-wing extremist”
    is okay though.

Offend the presidents friends!?! Is this lady serious? Why did we elect a president who has friends that would be offended by using the word terrorist. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Pearl Harbor and 911 were tragedies! Didnt thousands of Americans lose their lives on those days!?! It dissappoints me to see this country turning soft. Those who commit “man-caused disasters” ARE BAD PEOPLE Ms Janet!!! Why are you defending these TERRORISTS and trying to protect their feelings!!!! I’m sure this lady was sad that those 3 pirates were killed too. It scares me that this lady has anything to do with our government. If anyone disagrees with any of this I would love to know why! Good day!

Until we have a majority of so -called adults who are willing to take the time to understand the workings of the two largest international organizations: the World Bank and the World Trade Organization, our ignorance and denial will become our childrens nightmare. There is only one time for establishing a “new frontier”. These two groups are silently doing just that while the masses of people are distracted with half-truths. Man’s inhumanity to man does not exclude us! If we are serious about wanting a better future for our children we need to stop behaving as children. There is too much technology for anyone to limit their understanding of world affairs by what is seen on the TV. The fact that none of the replies took the trouble to look up when the use of the word “terrorist” began and by whom and for what purpose, only confirms my saddened belief that we have become our own worst enemy.
