Sarah Palin Resigns

July 3, 2009

sarah-palinAs you have heard by now Sarah Palin announced that she will not run for re-election in Alaska, but she also announced that she will resign as governor of Alaska in a couple of weeks.

Before I give you my take on her announcement, let me make clear how I feel about Sarah Palin, and it probably won’t be popular with most conservatives. I like her. I think that she is a good strong conservative and that she holds many of the same political beliefs that I do. I think that she has shown that she truly believes her stated positions, and that she is a genuine conservative.

However, I do not think that her personna plays well on a national level. While I like the way she sounds non-political, if you will, I don’t think that the nation will buy into her in an election. While she was a breath of fresh air to John McCain’s stagnant, boring, and failing bid for president I am not sure that she would gain enough support to be a viable candidate for president.

Now back on to the subject at hand. Why did Sarah Palin choose not to run for re-election? Was it because she has presidential  aspirations? That is entirely possible, but why did she resign? That is what I have a problem with.

Did she resign because she thought that she would be distracted from her state duties  if she was running for president?  This is entirely possible as well, but I just am not sure. I think there may be more here. She could have announced that she was not going to seek re-election and still carried on as governor of Alaska. Politicians do it all the time.

Did she resign because she didn’t want to cost the taxpayers any money to defend herself from the onslaught that she has been facing? She talked about how the national media and investigators have descended on her state in an effort to bring her down, and that is true. To me that shows that they are afraid of her, perhaps she does have some connection to mainstream America after all. They want to bring her down before she can do harm in 2012.

But is that reason enough to resign if the allegations are false? What does that say about her will to fight?  If she has presidential aspirations this gives her opposition a line of attack. If she can’t handle the fire as governor, how will she be able to handle the scrutiny when she is running for the presidency of the United States of America?  How would she handle the pressure if she were to become president? And I would agree with that line of questioning.

I think that there is more to this story than we know right now. I don’t know what it is but it seems to me that she would be better served to have remained on as governor and forfilled the obligation that she made to her state than to be be perceived as quiting when the going got tough.

I hate to think it, but is there something to the allegations that have been levied against her? Is she getting out before the shit hits the fan? Or has she just had enough? No matter which option is the truth, it doesn’t bode well for her on a national level.

Following the surprise Palin announcement, website supporters are gathering across the nation to support Sarah Palin for President in 2012 can be found online at http://www.palin4pres2012.com

Our the website is in danger of crashing due to the flood of readers and supporters signing up to show their interest in a Palin Candidacy. The GOP establishment had better watch out, Sarah Palin and Ron Paul combined with the power of the internet will remove the stranglehold of GOP special interests and the elites who have brought the party to its knees in defeat in the 2008 elections.

Well, your take isn’t unpopular with this conservative, Mr. Pink Eyes, as I share your view on Sarah Palin – I like her, and I liked her inclusion on the McCain ticket. But a lot of people were saying she was the knight in shining armor that would save America with her aw-shucks conservatism. I wasn’t sold on it, but I was willing to wait and see.

This resignation blows any national aspirations out of the water, if not forever, at least for the short term. I also believe there’s more to the story, as it just makes no sense to do this right now. It’s a bizarre and disappointing end to what could have been a promising political career.

    I don’t even like her… I think she’s a RINO of the 1st order, a divisive bitch and dumber than whale shit…

Other than that, she is a PERFECT example of why Mattel never made a Northwoods Barbis… 😛

Add me as another conservative that agrees with you Mr. Pink Eyes! I myself think there is more here we probably do not want to know. The timing is indicative of that, being that the announcement is made during a really dead news cycle. The timing is also horrible for the GOP following on the heels of another 2012 possibility in Mark Sanford. I personally have been championing the idea that we don’t need a leader right now. We the People are the leader and we are the ones who will have to take back this country. This move by Palin, whow I voted for and adored, leaves me thinking of her as a quitter. If her reasons are true, then she let the left win and proved that she could not take the heat.

She said, “a higher calling” and what’s best for the country. Is it possible that she has been asked to head some big children’s org.? Lie the March of Dimes or something like that? I can’t imagine an organization wanting a republican, but if she is a RINO in conservative’s clothing, maybe……..

It appears that my take on Sarah Palin isn’t as unpopular with conservatives as I thought it would be.

It’s plenty unpopular with me buddy, LOL

Her charisma and natural political talent are actually her greatest assets… she’s a natural. Her speech at the RNC was all I needed to see there. There is nobody in here league in the GOP today. And for all the ruthless and unjust attacks on her, I’m surprised she’s held up politically as well as she did. And after what she’s been through -and meeting it all with class and a smile- NObody can say she’s not tough enough.

And after a disingenuous, corrupt, leftist, radical anti-American like Obama has taken a wrecking-ball to this once great society… IMO Palin is the IDEAL antidote: genuine, conservative, sensible, and incredibly honest… just what people will be begging for, along with strong defense and the return of free market enterprise. I am surprised you partially bought into the “she’s hiding something” bit- just more disinformation, bro. There is NOTHING she’s “running away from”, nothing to hide.

It is obvious to me she is cutting off the DNC/MSM’s main avenue of attack: as long as she’s not a governor facing 15 BS lawsuits, she can raise money, write her book, meet with foreign policy think-tanks to build a platform, and speak her mind. The point that you are missing in my mind is that Palin was forced to do this because the left are abusing the law to relentlessly harass and bankrupt here… and they could have done it for another year if still in office. I don’t think she wanted to quite, she loved the job- but it’s best for her, the State of AK, the US, and the GOP.

Palin is also the #1 GOP fundraiser today… nobody’s even close. She will begin fundraising for her new 2012 allies in a few months, and she will be the GOP’s most valuable commodity headed into the vital midterms. Her face will be attached in the public’s mind to this historic GOP comeback… and those debts will be collected in 2012.

I’m not committed to her honestly, nor endorsing her yet… but I am of the opinion that nobody else can compete with her for the nomination if she chooses the proper team. And I like, admire, and respect her greatly.

Palin is the REAL DEAL my friend… nothing less than the Gipper in Heels.
