Climate Change Bill Includes “Green” Requirements for Homeowners
Hidden in the cap and tax climate change legislation that the House passed last week is a MANDATE that all residential, commercial, and government buildings will have to meet certain “green” guidelines.
That means in order to sell your house you will have to meet these guidelines, you will be REQUIRED to make certain improvements to your house to make it more “green” before the government will allow you to sell it. (That sure is going to help the slumping housing market, isn’t it?)
But don’t be too worried, the government is going to let you keep one of your rights as a homeowner. The government is going to let you work on your house all be yourself if you want to. Just like if they thought you were a big boy or girl. They will probably even let you use sharp tools too! YIIPPPEEEE!!!!

So the government will still let you work on your house if you want to, but they can demand that you make certain changes to your home and this is supposed to make us feel better?
Once you have your house inspected for its “greendom” by the government and you make the required changes that the government imposes on you, you then have to let the government back into your house to see if it meets their approval. Then and only then will you be allowed to sell your house. Do you see the theme here? Government, more government. More government intrusion.
This bill just keeps on getting worse, the government keeps on growing and they keep on closing in on us. We have to defeat this bill.

The Federal Government may let you work on your house, but the local regulations might not depending on what work is to be done.

You know, I am looking at the language of the bill and I am just not seeing this requirement. The linked article does not pin point the language that says that you cannot sell your home unless it has been retrofitted. I found credits for retrofitting and credits for mortgages of energy efficient homes but no restrictions. It’s a huge bill… would you know where that language is?

I tried to pull up the text of the bill but my computer froze (kind of ironic) so I haven’t seen the wording. I was going by the article I linked to.

Although I still don’t see specific language, it does look like it leaves the door open to being a requirement for FHA and VA loans (possibly loans through Freddie and Fannie as well).

You are ALL TOTALLY WRONG! This cap and trade bullshit is the best scam ever. It’s all about selling imaginary government approved points and making money over fist. My only question is: How do I get in on it??? This is the future of making money. Wise up guys and get in with the program before it’s too late.

So then isn’t it up to the realtor to enforce the new “rules”? I really don’t see them being enforced all the time. I’d let my house rot into the ground before I sold it to a lib who insisted on the house being “greened”.
