Larry Summers: “Google Searches Prove the Economy is Impoving”

July 18, 2009

I feel that it is more than evident that President Obama has absolutely no idea what he is doing when it comes to the economy and ending the recession. From his stimulus plan, to his mortgage bailout plan, to his plan to stall foreclosures, his policies have been abject failures. But don’t just take my word for it, Joe Biden admitted that the administration was guessing on the economy and he even went so far as to say that the administration guessed wrong. That is an indictment on President Obama’s policies from someone that is inside the administration. That is an admission that the administration is clueless. Thank you Joe Biden.

His economic plans have deepened the recession but he clings to abstract numbers like “jobs saved” to prove that his failed plans have worked. It is easy for him to claim that he has saved jobs and that the economy would be worse if he did not save these jobs when there is nobody out there who can either prove or disprove his jobs saved claim. He can simply make up any number that he wants and nobody can dispute it.

But along comes one of President Obama’s top economic advisers, Larry Summers, with proof that President Obama’s plans are working.

What does Larry Summers offer as proof that President Obama’s plans are working?

He offers the fact that less people are searching the term “economic depression”on Google as proof that the economy is turning around.

I can’t help but think about a line from the movie “A Few Good Men” when Col. Jessep says, “Please tell me that you have something more, Lieutenant. These two Marines are on trial for their lives. Please tell me their lawyer hasn’t pinned their hopes to a phone bill.”

I think this line sums up my feeling about Larry Summers and his pinning the economic hopes on Google searches. Somebody please convince me that he is not seriously judging the economy based on Google searches. Please tell me that the Obama administration hasn’t pinned their hopes on Google searches.

With all of the economic benchmarks worsening, unemployment rising, and home foreclosures rising the administration had to find something, anything that they could use to prove that the economy is getting better even though we all know that it is getting worse.

This was a pretty pathetic attempt at trying to justify the administration’s failed policies, and I don’t think most people will buy into it. If the best proof of a recovering economy is what people are searching on Google than there just isn’t much out there to convince people that the economy is getting better. That is because it is not getting better out there, the administration is clinging to its failed policies while middle America is clinging to guns and Bibles.

It is time for the Obama administration to admit that the stimulus has failed, Obama would save more face by admitting it than by sending this clown out there to defend the stimulus using Google search terms.

With all of the people who have lost their jobs, and with all of the people who have lost their homes since Obama became president is it at all possible that the reason less people are using Google to search for “economic depression” is because less people now have access to the internet? Is it possible that as people are tightening their belts as the economy worsens that one of the sacrifices that they are making, and Obama did tell us that we had to sacrifice, is giving up their cable and/or internet access? Just a thought.

And to end on a side note, does anybody else find it frightening that the administration has access to this information in the first place? What about the right to privacy?

Guess I’ll have to stop using Google Search, don’t want to give any false impressions. They really must be clutching at straws in the Oval office. The economy will turn around despite the meddling of the Obama Administration and his Tsars.

So I Googled “worst failure ever”, and what was at the top of the list?
Results 1 – 10 of about 22,700,000 for worst failure ever. (0.06 seconds)

Now that is too funny. I wonder why the administration isn’t using Google searches to report that Obama is the biggest failure ever. 🙂

I just couldn’t believe that headline when I saw it! Talk about clueless.

God save our country! It is hard NOT to laugh at such stupidity…but if you sit back and focus on the crazy statements coming out of this administration it becomes quite sobering.
