Obama is Feeling the Heat For His Comment About the Cambridge Police

July 23, 2009

I find it surprising that President Obama is facing some criticism about the comment that he made about the Cambridge police during his press conference last night, I thought that the media would bury this. But there are a few prominent people speaking out against Obama’s words, including Bill Cosby, who claimed that is was shocking to hear Obama say that Cambridge police acted “stupidly” for trying to do their jobs. The media simply cannot ignore this story.

The part of Obama’s comments that disturb me the most is that after he proclaimed that the Cambridge police acted “stupidly” he admitted that he did not know the facts of the case. Obama had no business commenting on something as serious as this issue without knowing the facts.

The Fraternal Order of Police has also come out and condemned the presidents remarks

That being the case, it’s unfortunate that he chose to say anything,” Pascoe said. “He wasn’t there, and he doesn’t know what happened

That is exactly right, he should have said nothing until he knew what he was talking about.

Because of the heat that the president has been feeling the White House press secretary, Robert Gibbs, was forced to come out and try to defend the president’s remarks. His defense?

“Let me be clear. He was not calling the officer stupid, OK?”

President Obama did not call the officer stupid, just his actions. That is what the White House came up with for a defense of the president’s irresponsible remark. What a joke!

And now the president himself has said that he is surprised by the controversy surrounding his comments and I am sure he is. He is not used to the media actually reporting on anything controversial about him. From Reverend Wright to bitter gun clinging bible thumpers to his birth certificate to William Ayers to Ssul Alinski, on and on the list goes and nothing was reported by the media except on the blogs. Now suddenly the press is covering a controversial story, no wonder he is surprised.

But to top it all off we learn that the officer in the midst of having his name run though the mud is actually an expert on racial profiling and teaches a class on how to properly deal with situations in order to avoid racial profiling.

We also learned that there were eight recent break-ins recently in that neighborhood and that Gates’s house was recently broken into.

President Obama went in front of the American people, and even though his viewership continues to slide every time he holds a press conference millions of Americans still saw him condemn a man that he knew nothing about. He condemned a man and he condemned the whole police department and the truth is that he didn’t know what the hell he was talking about.

Professor Gates, the man that accused officer Crowley of racism for trying to do his job, has said that Crowley should get on his knees and beg forgiveness from him. Gates said that if he found the begging sincere he just might forgive officer Crowley.

But it is not officer Crowley who should be begging for forgiveness, it is President Obama who should be begging for forgiveness for smearing Officer Crowley’s name, for being so irresponsible and stupid, and for helping to  keep the race hustling tactics of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson alive.

I was wrong when I said in the past that I believed America had moved past race as an issue. Clearly the president himself has not, and he is setting an example for millions of Americans. It is sad more than anything else. We elected him president but he is still not able to get past what he was taught as a member of Reverend Wright’s church over the last twenty years.

Should we have expected anything different?

So far this has come back to haunt him and it should. How will this play in the longrun? I am not sure.
Obama thinks he can think, do, and say what he wants because he was allowed to do so throughout the campaign without ever being questioned, hopefully that is finally coming to an end.

The only reason our Troops in Iraq and Afghastan is acting stupidly dear……is to keep your ass safe. And running them down like that, they are probably wondering why?
By the sounds of your comment dear, I would take it you are a draft dodger or one, who is coward and didn’t sign up.
And to you Mr Pine Eyes…..you hit the nail on the head when you said Obama says what he wants to because no one confronted him on some of the things in his campaign. I can’t stand him. He is a complete ass.

You gave cidu much more time than I would have. 🙂
Obama is not used to being questioned, he thought the media would always just play along but they might actually start doing their job and if they do Obama had better get used to it. Criticism comes with the job.

Yea, Obugger is getting some flack from this by some on the MSM, and I suspect as more details come out that may increase–he really jumped-the-gun on this one and it may come back to bite him. I watched the debate on this on “Morning Joe” this morning and some there(yes, even on MSNBC) were questioning his comments.

The only thing that the media loves more than Obama is a good story. And we are seeing that right now!

I would love to see Obama apologize to the Cambridge PD. His backpeddling was arrogant. This president just doesn’t know how to act in front of other humans. His comment may have been taken for “maligning” the police????? He is trying to erase that race line he drew in the sand, but I can still see it. Uh-oh? I don’t think officer Crowley should go to the White House. I think Obama keeps inviting people into the Oval Office to bully them. (CBO director, etc.) DON’T GO, JIM!!!!!

I don’t know what other conclusion you can come to other than he was trying to malign the police. His expression of regret over the comment while standing by the spirit of the comment makes me even madder!

Nice work Barack… with one comment you managed to alienate 75% of America. And that presser and call to Officer Crowley sure came out of nowhere… did Axelrod rip you a new one?

Anyone who has spent any amount of time in the “higher” education system knows the Professor Gates type: bitter, spiteful, bigoted racist with a position of power who felt emboldened to make a political statement.

This is the type of Professor who would change the subject on you when you attempt to engage in a debate- or would give you a poor grade because you actually have an opinion, and done research outside of marxist texts and such. You are fooling no one, Mr Gates.

And as for our Dear Leader, is this “nuance” you’ve spoke of? “the police acted stupidly”?
    -please

Obama is out to rip this country to shreds in EVERY way- who can question that such ill-advised statements are divisive… and NOT helpful? He has no idea what happened, he admitted it- and apparently doesn’t care, either… he’s picked his side.

But back in reality, the childish and paranoid Gates completely baited the cop, who acted with admirable restraint, IMO… all he had to do is show his ID and shut up, he was treated with respect. This guy was clearly looking for a fight… and he ought to thank God he didn’t find one.

Obama is going to destroy race relations in this country with his vengeful “get even” mentality… some messiah- Americans should have chosen a fair and sensible human being instead of this embittered nutcase.

It is strange that the first black president has done more in the last week to hurt race relations than his election did to help them.
