Obama to drop public option from healthcare reform
We have been heard loud and clear. The townhall meetings have had an effect. President Obama is considering dropping the public option from the healthcare reform bill. In what is being called a shift of position, Obama is now ready to concede his public option proposal in an effort to pass healthcare reform.
We have been saying all along that the most important part of this debate is not the public option, but rather ensuring choice and competition,” an aide said. “There are lots of different ways to get there
This is sure to be met with opposition from some members of his own party but in the end they will probably go along with the president. This will not make the far left happy but Obama has to weigh the ramifications between upsetting the far left and upsetting mainstream America. The logical outcome of that analysis would be to go along with mainstream America.
If the president does indeed drop the public option it is a good start but without tort reform it is only a start. We are making progress, we are being listened to. We have been loud and we have been vocal. The Democrats and the media have tried to downplay the townhall meeting protests but the president and the insiders know that this is a real movement and it is a movement that they have realized cannot be ignored.
There is nothing more impressive in the realm of politics than when the people stand up for what they believe in and make the government listen to them.
This may be a good sign but we must not let our guard down. We are winning this debate but we must not let up now! Keep fighting and we will be victorious. We can stop this healthcare bill, we may already have stopped the most insidious part of it.

No, there will be a public option, like it or not.

Don’t think for a minute that if the “Public Option” is dropped that this bill HR3200 will not later be amended.
Obama may have been embarrassed that is all.
This bill is nothing more then a Trojan horse. A way for an overpowering government to send its tentacles into every part of our every day lives.
Any form of bill HR3200 has to be rejected if we as a country are going to avoid going down the road to socialism.
How many of the town hall protesters coming out in opposition to the bill actually voted for Obama anyway?
Few I bet.
Obama won with 7 percent of the vote. That’s enough of a swing to make an upset next election cycle.
I expect Obama to force passage of some kind of bill even if it is political suicide for every Congressman who votes for it. Obama does not care about the Democratic party, he is just using it to achieve his Fascist goals.
He is a one term president ( He’s to lazy to go for another 4 years)
He’s going to do as much damage as possible during the next four years all the while doing every thing he can to defer the negative results of his policies into the next president which most likely will be a Republican.
Maybe at that point we can repeal some of this crap.

I think that Obama probably thinks that he is a one term president and that is why he is rushing to push his agenda through. He also realizes that technically he could be a two year president after the 2010 elections if he loses the house or senate. He is rushing everything through because he fells he has a small amount of time to do it.

I hope you are right, rick. And why is Obama waiting until next Wed to announce the “shift”? Just in case something else horribly embarrassing happens that the admin. has to distract people from? THe whole thing is just making me sick. I saw an SUV with the sticker in the back window ( I need one) 1-20-13. It’s going to be a very long 3+ years…..

I am beginning to see more and more anti-Obama bumber stickers. The thrill is wearing off. Soon we will see more Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers remaining on the cars than Obama/Biden stickers.

Obama could go down swinging on this one—I’m just not sure how things will play out. Addressing a joint session of Congress during prime time—I’m suspicious of this upcoming event next wednesday, a night when many christians go to church(something stinks here).

He isn’t going to go down without a fight but I think that in the end he will feel he has to pass something in order to save his tarnished image.

True, he may just be making an end run around the defence.

My bet is that there will be a public option. It’s too soon for them to throw in the towel. The Dems own the government. My guess is that it will be some kind of Obama Care for those who can prove they are below the legal poverty level. Frankly, those without health insurance, because they don’t want it, should be required to buy some kind of minimum health insurance policy, just like auto insurance in Calif. which is required. Tough shit if they don’t like it. People get hurt or sick and get health care anyway in emergency rooms at the very least which I end up paying for indirectly with higher insurance rates. Someone always pays and my premiums are high enough. Illegals and prison inmates can also pay. Prison inmates have work details that earn them money-money that can help pay for health care. Illegals should be arrested. If they need health care, give it to them while they are incarcerated and force them to work it off before they are released. I don’t believe Tort reform will happen, even though it should, but I don’t see why interstate competition is not being proposed very strongly.
Thanks for the forum.

Interstate competition would be one of the best ways to lower prices but in the end this is about government control and not about helping people.
