Energy secretary Steven Chu: “Americans are like teenagers”
One of the many things that I have been critical of President Obama for is his condescending attitude. When people disagree with him and he tries to defend himself against the criticism he sounds as if he is lecturing the American people. He talks as if the American people do not know what is best for them and that only he knows what is best. In other words; he talks to us as if he is our parent and we are the children that he must raise properly. This is insulting and arrogant sounding to many Americans.
But now the perception that I just described has actually been admitted to by one member of the administration. While talking about the environment and global warming Obama’s energy secretary, Steven Chu, put into words the very perception that I was writing about above.
The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act
There you have it, Steven Chu has called all of us teenage children who need to be taught the proper way to act. How condescending is that statement? This just shows us how this administration feels about us. We did not elect Barack Obama to be our daddy, we elected him to be our president.
This administration truly believes that it must teach us how to act, Steven Chu is now living proof of that. The scary part is that the administration can legislate us into acting the way that it wants us to act. That is what this climate change bill is all about; controlling the people’s behavior.
The Obama administration realizes that Steven Chu let the cat out of the bag and now they are trying to spin this by claiming that Chu was really saying that we need to educate teenagers on ways to save energy.
That is not what he said. You read the quote above I will let you be the judge.

Chu was being to restrained. Actually Americans act like five year olds. Americans won’t even let politicians talk about raising the tax on gasoline to European levels so we will stop importing so much oil from countries that hate us like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. That is just one example of American immaturity.

The real problem with this is their attitude about those of us who “do not know any better”. If they are saying these kinds of things in public, it makes me wonder how they really fell about the American citizen in general and what they are saying to each other out of the public eye.

Good point, I can’t even begin to imagine the disdain they must express in private.

Yes and if they are expressing that disdain, it will work itself into their public policy. That’s when it starts affecting you and me.
