United Nations claims that US predator drone attacks may violate international law

October 28, 2009

President Obama has increased the use of predator drones in the middle east in order to attack suspected terrorists. The leftists in the government have portrayed this as Obama’s smarter strategy for combatting terrorism, they have used this to separate Obama’s war strategy from Bush’s war strategy. There is only one problem with Obama’s predator drone strategy– according to the United Nations the predator drone attacks may violate international law.

I guess that this makes President Obama a war criminal, after all he is violating international humanitarian and human rights law. He won the Nobel Peace Prize, how can this be? Certainly if these accusations were made against President Bush the left would feign outrage and concern over his lack of caring for international law.

But seriously, if I were President Obama I know what I would say to the United Nations– go pound sand. I am not the president however so it will be interesting to see how Obama reacts to the news that he may be violating humanitarian and human rights law. The president should come out in defiance of the United Nations but knowing Obama’s love of this American hating organization I doubt that will be the case.

Will Obama put the will of the United Nations ahead of the protection of the people? That remains to be seen. Will he call off the predator drones because the United Nations doesn’t approve of the attacks? I certainly hope not. When we have these terrorists in our sights we cannot let them go, we need to use whatever means necessary to take these men out. Just ask President Clinton how it worked out when he refused to kill Osama bin Laden when he had the chance.

Hopefully President Obama will keep up the increased predator drone attacks, hopefully he will not take his eye off of the goal in an effort to appease the United Nations. He would do well to remember that he is president of the United States but we have already seen that he is all too willing to work with the United Nations. I hope that he draws a line in the sand on this issue. I just don’t trust that he will.

I hope that his loyalty lies with the United States and not with the United Nations. After all, he has been flying across the globe apologizing for America, calling us arrogant, and promising to restore our standing in the world, this news certainly can’t help the image that he wants to portray.

Thanks for sharing this information, Mr. Pink Eyes. It will certainly be interesting to see how the President responds.

I, for one am getting just a tad bit tired of hearing the United Nations always spouting off about what the actions we are taking. It seems as if we can not please them, no matter what we do. We should just stop trying and tell them to go climb a tree. That’s how we say “go pound sand” in Oklahoma.

I had something worse that I was going to tell the UN, but I toned it down. 🙂

This is once again the UN sticking their noses directly into U.S. policy. I think they see “the man of peace” as a weakling they can slap around.

That is exactly it, they perceive Obama, and rightly so, as weak and they are going to try to get as much out of him as they can.

The UN is controlled by mostly former colonial territories and view the United States as the last colonial power and they will never like us and will not be happy until our power is broken. Nothing we will do will be right unless we completely disarm and muliple our aid to them a thousand fold. These new african and asian states are very nationalistic, but they can’t stand the idea of the U.S. being nationalistic—that is a no, no!

I’ll bet you that IF a drone could have stopped the attacks on the UN house in Kabul the other night, the UN would LOVE drones…

The attack of the Drones sounds like something out of some sci-fi B-movie and I think about as effective. I personally think their value is more political than military, but as I said that only my opinion.

UN stands for Useless Nations…..Dag would be turning over in his grave if he knew what his organization had evolved into…..war sucks, don’t want to be there..could care less if Afganistan or Iraq either survives or prospers…but, since we are there…. may as well try to win the damn thing. And that means using any method at our disposal…..
