Healthcare reform bill could be in trouble as fissures open in the Democrat Party? I declare bullshit!

November 22, 2009

Reports now indicate that despite Saturday’s vote to move the healthcare reform legislation to the senate floor for debate that fissures have opened up within the Democrat party that could doom this legislation.

I for one am sick and tired of hearing about these fissures and how the legislation could be in trouble. The end result of this legislation is not in doubt– it will pass. I don’t give a damn about any reports to the contrary.

These Democrats, and two Independents, who supposedly have issues with the bill have all voted to send the bill to the floor for debate and thusly have ensured its passage. Virtually every bill that makes it to the floor for debate passes and if you think otherwise you are just fooling yourself.

Democrats who had professed concerns about this legislation had the chance to stop the bill but instead they voted for it. I do not want to hear  that this bill could be in trouble anymore because it isn’t. I refuse to allow myself even a slight glimmer of hope that the healthcare reform bill still faces hurdles that may kill it.

The stories about this bill’s imminent demise are just that– stories. Democrats who claim to oppose this legislation are only doing so as a negotiating ploy in order to secure more government handouts.

Mary Landrieu is a perfect example of this. After receiving a bribe estimated between $100-$300 million for her cloture vote she claims she is still undecided on the final vote. There is still room for negotiating her final vote. In other words, it will cost the taxpayers even more money if Harry Reid wants her final vote and we all know that he will pay whatever it takes. We can assume that all the others who claim opposition to this bill will be in line right behind Mary Landrieu looking for their payout.

There are no fissures growing in the Democrat party; there are just people getting in line with their hands out.

And when it comes to a vote the Dems will form a Daisy Chain and have a group BJ and vote to f*ck America one more time…

You are correct Mr P/E, most bills do pass once they muster cloture. But the ball is still in play, baby… and I sure don’t share your sense of inevitability here- IMO this is a specific goal of Reid and the Dear Leader…. they’d love you to resign yourself to your fate on this, that’s why they pulled out all the stops to pass just this procedural vote.

Conservatives will now apply MASSIVE pressure -and most people don’t want this. Patriots need to fight, and defeating or dramatically diluting ObamaCare is still a very real possibilty- the Dems’ support is crumbling, and the GOP smells blood.

Issues working against it’s passage include (h/t Red State):

TIME- Sen Coburn is threatening to have the bill read, front to back, all 2,000 pages, prior to each amendment.

OBAMA- getting more toxic by the day for moderate Dems running for re-election in just 11 mos… and the mojo is way, way gone. We only need to peel-off ONE

GOP AMENDMENTS: “Guns and immigration, guns and babies, guns and taxes, guns and spending, guns and Medicare cuts, guns and government control of your health care, guns and health care rationing… did I mention guns?”

ABORTION: (See Stupak.) For extra points, see Senator Nelson (D-NE) and Stupak amendment in the U.S. Senate.

PUBLIC OPTION: the liberal’s shimmering holy grail looks like it’s already dead in the Senate- half the Left’s battle is already lost here… and might even lose it some votes.

Hugely unpopular and contentious issues also include:

    health care rationing,
    immigration,
    death panels,
    health care databases (guns),
    privacy,
    Medicare cuts,
    taxes
    and spending…

You know… the Dems wouldn’t be rushing if they were so confident… and I feel the momentum on OUR side now.

IMHO Reid will have a tough time pleasing both Middle and Left as mid-terms approach and Obama’s failures stack up… so keep your chin up, brother! We just lost a battle, it happens.

The new Louisiana Purchase is twenty times the cost of the original with about 20 times less territory, ha! I too have to disagree, I think there is still a shot at stopping the bill as written, but will grant that some bill will emerge sometime after Christmas. I suppose I’m always a “glass half-full” kind of guy.

I am beginning to feel a little better but you are right, there will be some form of this bill that will pass. We just have to hope it will be as “less bad” as possible. It will still be bad though.

This Government takeover of handouts will throw this country in a hole and make everyone equal(poor)! I am sick of this! Why can we not get answers from these clowns in Washington? Reid is a scam artist along with your boy Obama. All we hear is lies from the Dem party since CHANGE was promised. This could be the worst politics in history! Tell people to get off their asses and work for a change. The 30percent who want this are sitting at home wanting a handout. If everyone woukd tend their own garden we would all prosper.
