Dick Morris claims Sestak scandal is an impeachable offense, Republicans ask for special prosecutor
The Obama regime is hoping that the Joe Sestak scandal will go away– and if the media were to have its way the Joe Sestak scandal would go away– but this story is far from over. Once Joe Sestak beat Arlen Specter in the Democrat Pennsylvania primary this issue probably should have disappeared, but after his big win last week Joe Sestak reaffirmed his claim that he was offered a high level job in return for his dropping out of the primary race in order to leave Arlen Specter unopposed in the primary.
The fact that Joe Sestak did not drop his claim after his victory has got to be a thorn in the side of the Obama regime. Instead of jumping on board with the Democrats’ agenda and letting the issue fade away, he upped the ante by refusing to back away from his claim.
Now Dick Morris– a former Clinton adviser– has spoken out on the scandal, claiming that this is ten times worse than the Valerie Plame scandal that Democrats and the media used to rock the Bush administration.
This scandal could be enormous,” said Dick Morris, a former White House adviser to President Bill Clinton, on the Fox News Sean Hannity show last night. “It’s Valerie Plame only 10 times bigger, because it’s illegal and Joe Sestak is either lying or the White House committed a crime
He didn’t stop there:
Obviously, the offer of a significant job in the White House could not be made unless it was by Rahm Emanuel or cleared with Rahm Emanuel,” he said. If the job offer was high enough that it also had Obama’s approval, “that is a high crime and misdemeanor
The term “high crime and misdemeanor” is not insignificant; it is the only term used to describe a crime that a president can be impeached for. Naturally he was asked if this meant that the Joe Sestak scandal could potentially be an impeachable offense, to which he answered, “absolutely.”
Villain extraordinaire of the left– Karl Rove– backed up Dick Morris’s claim stating:
This is a pretty extraordinary charge: ‘They tried to bribe me out of the race by offering me a job,'” he said on Greta Van Susteran’s “On the Record” program on the Fox News Channel. “Look, that’s a violation of the federal code: 18 USC 600 says that a federal official cannot promise employment, a job in the federal government, in return for a political act.”Somebody violated the law. If Sestak is telling the truth, somebody violated the law,” Rove said. “Section 18 USC 211 says you cannot accept anything of value in return for hiring somebody. Well, arguably, providing a clear path to the nomination for a fellow Democrat is something of value.
He continued, citing a third law passage: “18 USC 595, which prohibits a federal official from interfering with the nomination or election for office. … ‘If you’ll get out, we’ll appoint you to a federal office,’ – that’s a violation of the law.”
Yet Joe Sestak has refused to provide any details about his claim.
I’ve said all I’m going to say on the matter. … Others need to explain whatever their role might be,” Sestak said on CNN this week. “I have a personal accountability; I should have for my role in the matter, which I talked about. Beyond that, I’ll let others talk about their role
His silence on the details has led many to believe that he is lying about his claim, but what would he have to gain by lying about this– other than a prison term for libel? That is why I believe Joe Sestak’s claim; however I do believe that he probably has no proof of these claims. But if he has no proof, why would he reaffirm those claims after he won the primary election? Why wouldn’t he just let the scandal fade away if he had no proof? This is what I can’t understand, and that is why there needs to be a special investigation into his claims. If he is lying, he needs to face repercussions, even if those repercussions mean that he forfeits his primary win to Arlen Specter. But if he is telling the truth and someone in the Obama regime committed a federal offense, that person needs to be help accountable. If Barack Obama knew about the job offer than he also must be held accountable, up to and including impeachment.
As I stated above, there are too many unanswered questions about a potential scandal as serious as this one, and for that reason a special investigation has to take place. Today all of the Republicans– including RINO Lindsey Graham– on the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Eric Holder urging “the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Congressman Joe Sestak’s claim that a White House official offered him a job to induce him to exit the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Senator Arlen Specter.”
David Axelrod confirmed that if Joe Sestak’s claim is true that a serious “breach of the law” occurred, however he claimed that the allegations were looked into and no wrongdoing was found. I am sorry, but that isn’t good enough. In private, (so much for transparency) Democrats looked into the claims and strangely enough could find nothing wrong. Yet the scandal is not going away, it is time for an independent investigation into these charges. Republicans agree:
do not believe the Department of Justice can properly defer to White House lawyers to investigate a matter that could involve ‘a serious breach of the law.’ The White House cannot possibly manage an internal investigation of potential criminal misconduct while simultaneously crafting a public narrative to rebut the claim that misconduct occurred
In other words, there is a conflict of interest with the White House lawyers investigating the possible wrongdoing of the president. In all likelihood Democrats will refuse to investigate this further, and this scenario leads me to ask the question, what are they hiding?
If the White House is hiding nothing there is no reason that they wouldn’t welcome a special prosecutor to clear everyone’s name, if they resist hiring a special prosecutor the accusations and suspicions will only grow and become a bigger distraction heading into the fall elections. The only reason for the regime to oppose getting to the bottom of this scandal that I can come up with is that there is a smoking gun somewhere.
Eric Holder do your job and appoint a special prosecutor.

Eric Holder. After watching that vid clip of him unable to say “radical Islam caused the last three terror attacks,” I won’t be holding my breath while we wait for him to do his job.

No, but maybe of Republicans win back congress in November they can force the issue.

I’m with you all the way. One quibble: libel is not a crime and you don’t go to prison for it (this would be slander anyway). He would have to be sued civilly, and nobody is going to do that because the scandal would become more and more public.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. There has to be something criminal about accusing the president of a federal crime if it is shown to be untrue, doesn’t there?
